I think having it in Barstow would be worth it, just for the novelty.

Maureen mentioned July above, should we start with that? I think the couple of weeks surrounding Fourth of July weekend might not be the best time, but I’m not sure.

I can do either the weekend of the 16-17, or the weekend of the 30-31. Either is great with me.
16-17 is Comic-Con in San Diego. A number of us are committed to be there (pun intended.)
End of July is good.
Also, do we want to try for a group rate? I’m willing to research packages, unless everyone has their own specific favorite hotel and wants to do their own thing.
All right, because of some changes at work regarding vacation time and the fact that we have to use most of it by October or else we lose it, I put in to get July 4th-15th off, so, regardless of where it’s at, Gr8tkat and I can only make it if it’s within those two weeks.
Hmmmm…Any weekend sounds good to me…except my birthday is July 31 and I’m not sure what plans the family will have for me that weekend. Maybe I can lure them with me, but that can have it’s +'s and -'s.
I nominate the weekend of July 9th and 10th in light of Master Control and Yeticus Rex’s posts and my own tentative plan to fly home to Tennessee for the first time in almost two years to surprise my mother and sister on their birthdays.
That should read “…my own tentative plan to fly home to Tennessee the weekend of the 16th and 17th…”.
I’d be hard pressed to get the ol’ boyfriend to leave town during Comic-Con. As in, it ain’t gonna happen.
I’m trying to decide whether that means I want it on that same date or not.

It’s the annual comic convention, and this year, it’s in San Diego.
Just a nitpick, it’s always in San Diego.
It’s a huge event, so I won’t be surprised if several SoCal Dopers plan on being there. Hell, I know people who come from out of state for it!
