Maybe it would’ve worked if it was a rabbit trailer.
Kudos to the location scout and/or set dresser for managing to make Vancouver look like Viet Nam.
At first I thought that this was going to be one of those disjointed episodes with multiple unconnected narrative threads (Cf. yesterday’s Supergirl), what with most of the team running off into the jungle leaving Jax and Marty behind on the Waverider to work out their divorce. But the Waverider actually became relevant during the climax of the episode, pulling all the threads neatly together. I stand by my assertion that Legends is the best, most tightly-written show of the Berlantiverse.
This was an unusually serious, introspective episode. Especially introspective for Mick. Some great character development there. Now does interacting with his father change his own personal timeline?
Next week is the crossover. I’ve created a separate thread for all crossover-related discussion. In case you haven’t seen it yet,Crisis on Earth-X
Oh, and this episode pointed out what’s possibly a Very Important Plot Point. Mick and his father, Stein and his great(x5) grandfather, Amaya and her granddaughter, big Ray and little Ray, there’s some sort of pattern going on there. Possibly due to Dhark or even Mallus.
‘There is no Sarah, only Grodd.’ ‘Kneel before Grodd!’ Grodd is a neeeeeerd.
Also, having seen no promotional material, I didn’t realize Grodd was going to be the villain, so everyone calling him ‘the new god’ had me going down a different route as to who it might be. (Not that the New Gods would be as inherently anachronistic as Grodd, but they could have made it work!)
And we still don’t know who the father of Stein’s grandchild is…
Oops. Missed one of my comments, in my previous post.
Johnson’s makeup was terrible. The last time I saw such an obviously fake nose, I was watching the video for Humpty Dance.
Legends is now trolling the other shows in the Arrowverse. When young Stein shot the toy arrow to get Beebo, the oh-so-dramatic Arrow main theme started playing. Come to think of it, Iris outright complained about Felicity butting in on her wedding vows, but the way Legends did it was much more meta.
The fight between Legends and Vikings over a blue teddy bear was absolutely hilarious and perfectly Legends. Agent Sharpe actually got to be an active participant in another Legends fuckup. A little of Sara is rubbing off on her.
We now see why Citizen Cold decided to stick around. Ostensibly to help the Legends deal with Martin’s death (with a Stein puppet, no less), but really to help himself deal with his own partner’s death (i.e., Rory-X).
This was the mid-season finale, so we’ll have to wait until the show returns early next year to see what John Constantine wants. Unfortunately, when the other shows come back, Legends isn’t coming back with them. Black Lightning is going to premiere in the Legends timeslot. I’m not sure when the show will come back.
Happy Beebo Day!
I really wish they’d give Constantine a 3 or 4 episode miniseries to wrap up his show.
Frak. It looks like Franz Drameh has also left the show: http://ew.com/tv/2017/12/05/legends-of-tomorrow-franz-drameh-exit/. Jax isn’t dead so hopefully they’ll find a way for him to come back.
They said after the episode that Legends is coming back in February, with no specific date.
He’s getting an animated series, next year…the problem is it’s a web series, and, like their other web series, only an hour or two in total, so any wrapping up will probably be perfunctory. (Assuming it’s the same universe, which isn’t 100% clear.)
To the main episode… It really bugged me that Darhk was able to pass himself off as Odin without, in some way, hiding that he had two good eyes.
The CW has announced that Legends will return on Feb 12, in Supergirl’s timeslot. The latter show was previously set to come back on Jan 15. Then Legends is going to air for nine weeks (which I think concludes its season), before Supergirl returns to air its remaining episodes.
This juggling of schedules can’t be good for either show.
I didn’t know whether to put this in the Flash season 4 thread or in here since this affects both shows. I guess I’ll put it here, even though Legends doesn’t return until Feb. 12.
Keiynan Lonsdale, who plays Wally West, aka Kid Flash, will be leaving the Flash series, from which he has been largely absent for most of the season, to Legends of Tomorrow where he will become a series regular. Lonsdale’s first episode as a Legends regular will be on episode 11 on Feb. 19, and he will formally join the Legends two weeks later.
A reminder that Legends returns TONIGHT (Monday instead of Tuesday) replacing Supergirl in its timeslot. It is supposed to air all its remaining nine episodes for the season, after which Supergirl returns to close out its season.
In tonight’s episode, John Constantine boards the Waverider to collect on the debt Sara own him for reviving her. Trailer: - YouTube
That was quite the fine episode of Constantine, complete with logo and theme music. At the same time, it was also a great episode of Legends, advancing the overarching plot with regards to Damien, Nora and Mallus. They didn’t forget the comedy. The best bit was probably Mick snapping off orders to the away team, just so he can go back to watching his football game. Plus Gideon got off a few snarky lines. We also got reminded that Sara is bi. And apparently Constantine is bi as well.
I hope no one was trying to seduce someone while I was getting a lobotomy!
The Constantine: Hellblazer series explored this side of John.
I haven’t really watched any of the CW shows except for Constantine, so I had to go watch this episode today. Thought it was pretty good.
I was amused that the asylum that John found Nora in was the Sumner Asylum. (John’s look was based on Sting in the movie Brimstone and Treacle.)
Constantine was on NBC, not CW.
