I believe Lekatt should be banned for continued, willful ignorance. He is the enemy this board fights against.

Nope. Not for an instant.
Would Jerry Lewis ban the poster child for his charity? Would any organization ban someone who can be held up as an example of what it exists for? Nope.

I defy you to point out a single post of mine, since I apologised to you, that could even remotely demonstrate that I hate you. I think you have a persecution complex. I think you’re are a little nuts. You are exasperating with all your talk of Him and how you were wicked but now all you want to do is love everybody. It is tiring to watch you bring your infantile and misguided concept of god into every thread. But no I don’t hate you. I feel sorry for you, I think you are pathetic and I think you need to climb down off the fucking cross we need the wood.
[/QUOTE]
You’re hate is all you have. Hide behinde your words as they’re all you have. You are a man? Stand tall. In the end it is all we have.

I know you are trying to sound deep, but it comes across like a bad fortune cookie. In the end you are just like Lekatt, a slave to your own delusions.

That sounds* really * judgemental and confrontational to me. Who are you to say what hate is? Though I do agree that our actions (i.e., “standing tall”) is all we have. Not god, not heaven. All we can hope for is that we leave a positive mark on the world before we return to the nothingness we came from.

I don’t think the ADL is letting in many neo-Nazis, though.

Perhaps. But as I know who askeptic really is, judgment doesn’t enter into it. He has made himself known to me. Confrontational ? You got me there. For most people all you leave behind is your actions. I may be an asshole but my deeds speak for themselves. Being provoked by some of the idiots here is still a little hard to stomach sometimes. I have lived my life by the sword. I’m not proud of it but it doesn’t change the fact.

However, you have been able to change your behavior on this message board, already. I would suggest that you exert just a bit more effort and add one more action to your repertoire: resist calling out people with whom you are not currently engaged in a brawl. He had last indicated, pretty mildly, actually, that he would prefer to see evidence rather than testimony on a particular point and then ended with what appears to be a retraction of the challenge based on your having acknowledged that you were expressing your philosophy and not Declaring Truth. You and Kalhoun then went on to expore each other’s positions rather civilly, but then you had to beg people who disagreed with you to come mock you, singling out Askeptic for special attention.
There is no violation of the rules, either of the SDMB or of ongoing personal conflict in your second quoted statement, but if you are looking to get along with any number of persons, it was a bit counterproductive.

Your right. But it isn’t the first time fun boy has had a go at me for really no other reason than to just be hateful. I’m only human though and although I really do try to filter out the junk sometimes my pride gets the better of me. Thanks for taking your time to council me. I really do appreciate it. OM
Origionally having no dog in this fight, I just read the Psychic thread and I gotta say I’m proLekatt. Before you throw things, let me explain.
That thread, and I’m sure most others that Lekatt posts on, are victories for truth and reason. It’s irrelevant that he continues to disagree, it matters that his BS was responded with solid cites, rational judgement and clear logic. It made no difference that McCarthy still believed everyone to be communist conspirators, in the light of truth he was made to look like a fool and it ended his era. The more Lekatt and those of his ilk post, the faster we will combat ignorance. Preach on brother Lekatt!

I don’t agree.
It’s fine the first time people post pseudo-scientific rubbish. We can respond with the usual logic and cites.
But Lekatt has no interest in listening or learning. He merely repeats fanatically the same discredited stuff. And then posters have to repeat their refutations. In every thread Lekatt posts in.

This is not good for the board.

(My Bolding.)
Why? Why do they have to repeat themselves? Why not just refute him once and then ignore him? Either let the thread die or go back to discussing whatever it was about before he chimed in with his nonsense.

Well this is the essence of trllng.
If you continually repeat your rubbish in every possible thread, then it hangs around like a bad smell and new posters may take it as accepted.

And then what happens?
Lekatt’s ideas are so silly and so poorly argued that anyone who would believe him just because he isn’t being refuted is probably a lost cause anyway. But if it is necessary to refute him, why not just do it once, on his first post, and then follow that by saying “Lekatt, I’m not going to argue with you anymore” and then let it die.
And I don’t think he’s a troll. He believes what he believes, and he doesn’t do the needle and bait thing that most trolls do. He just repeats the same basic post over and over again. He’s not going to be convinced by any argument, his beliefs are just too important to him. If reason and evidence say one thing and his beliefs say another, he’s going to pick his beliefs.
