Lemon slices in restaurant drinks [mild]

[QUOTE=featherlou]
You know what toasts my muffins? Here in Calgary, we have better water coming out of our taps than the questionable stuff in bottles, and thousands of people refuse to drink it. Everything has to be bottled and filtered. Damn, people. We get our water straight off a glacier, it’s altered just enough so that it is completely safe to drink, it’s tested six ways to Sunday, and they still insist on drinking bottled water that has far fewer regulations on it, AND creates a ton of plastic waste, to boot.

Our water tastes good, too. Mmm, water.

I used to work in the water industry and I can vouch for this - Calgary’s municipal water is some of the cleanest in the world. Lethbridge’s is even slightly better.

About the only arguement I understand against is chlorine taste, but even that will dissipate if you leave it stand for an hour.

I just realized why I don’t like it: very weak citrus tastes in otherwise neutral water makes the whole thing taste vaguely like snot.

Luckily for me I never ever tasted snot, so this won’t spoil my enjoyment of lemon slices in my water or Coke.

I’m a citrus freak too. I’d say my favorite non-alcoholic drink is the juice of a whole lime combined with tonic water and a dash of Angostura. (The latter does contain alcohol and is in fact very much like Jagermeister, but the amount in the finished drink is negligible).

I’ve consumed so many lemon-wedgied drinks over the years that I don’t even notice the yellow peril anymore.

I like lemons, so no big deal to me. However, I was really thrown when a few places I’ve been to used cucumbers in their water instead of lemon. I can’t say it was bad, but it did throw me off the first time I encountered it.
