Les Miles kicks Honey Badger off the team.

Story Here
Twitter-verse going nuts.

Honey Badger don’t care.

Wow. What are the rumors behind the “rule violation”?

Does he have to sit out a year if he transfers or will he be playing this season?

Apparently he was caught going to class. (Go Big 10!)

So what do you think he did?

Third failed drug test. Automatically dropped from the team, even at LSU.

Ah, the devil weed! He WAS suspended one game last year, wasn’t he?

Why the hell is that even an issue, BTW? Weed isn’t a performance enhancer, and no one I know of had ever gotten stoned on cannabis and found naked in the middle of the road by teenagers in the morning.

It’s still illegal. Which means that to obtain it, you associate with people who are criminals(and not just selling weed). That’s generally something colleges wish their student-athletes to avoid.
Also, drug use goes against the concept of athletic training.

The school has a written policy. He consistently failed. They tried to help him many times, but I guess it comes down to he’d rather get high than play football at a D-1 school. One with a great chance at a National Championship and that puts him in the running for the Heisman.

He’d just rather smoke dope.

I say this with a heavy heart, as a die-hard LSU fan.

I’m going to miss my Honey Badger. But it had to be done.

I.e., the majority of attendees at a typical LSU home game? C’mon.

divemaster, thanks for the quote above. It does hint at some compassion shown. It does sound like Alleva thought it was on the BS side, too, though. Maybe not.

I don’t think it was as much “Les Miles kicked him off the team” as it was the breaking of team and school rules necessitated his removal. Miles didn’t have any choice in the matter.

If he drops down a division, he can play this year. If he transfers to another FBS school, he’d have to sit out a year. Odds are, he’ll sign on with some D1-AA school for this year and then enter the draft. Hopefully he can get his act together b/c he’ll soon realize NFL teams are loathe to take on persistent drug and/or character issues

Well, FAU will have a hell of a team this year, what with Duron Carter and Tyrann Mathieu.

I wouldn’t worry about your team very much, divemaster. You still have a hell of a defensive backfield. As for Tyrann, he’ll get a shot at the NFL next year, pretty much no matter what.

Doesn’t Mathieu have to sit out a year?

Yeah, it was just a joke about high-profile washouts. :stuck_out_tongue:

The honey badger don’t give a fuck!! I guess it’s true… kid is an idiot… you can’t risk your future for either a couple of dollars or some weed… Seriously… who’s talking to these kids…

Their friends.

Is there any possible way that he can sign an NFL Contract?

Not this year. NFL rules state three years out of high school.

He can play right away if he goes to a school in Division II - sorry, FCS or whatever it is this week - and has to sit out a year if he wants to stay for another Division I/FBS school.

FCS is the new name for I-AA
