Lesbian Gingerbread - A Chocolatey and Nostalgic MMP

I get to be first again on the next page.

Pthibbit.

Hey, if anyone sees rosie, let her know that this was the short essay I was talking about to her when we had dinner.

Cool! thanks. I think I read it once, but I will happily read it again. He’s one of my absolute favorites.

eta - the only time I have time to post lately is at work . . . if they only knew…

Good humpers, mumpers!! Yes, tis only Wednesday…and it’s still cold…DON"T WANT!! :stuck_out_tongue:

boofae, you need to get that kitteh pedaling again! All the sickies need to feel better.

dottie is absolutely right. There is no rule saying you must read every post. In fact it hardly matters whether you follow along or not. There’s no telling when the MMP will take a bank shot into an alternate universe.

Eh, that’s about it for this morning.

I decided last year that if I ever completely lose my mind and/or win the $5 million lottery, I’m going to get a Ph.D. in Restoration Drama. I can tie it in with the multicultural/postcolonial thesis I’m currently working on (looking at the origins of The Man) and mix in some of the truly sick and twisted stuff in the plays. Some of those plays were…well, let’s just say that Skinemax would have to show them at 3 a.m.

Zeldadog didn’t eat her pumpkin so she had to spend the night outside. I’m not letting her sleep in my room until I know the squirts are over. She’s napping on her bed right now–she can be in the house when someone is with her. Harsh, but this carpet already looks like enough hell.

I need to go to de sto’. My cupboards are bare.

Morning, all. I’m here after finally getting some good work done last night. First time in far too long; it’s about frickin’ time.

Congrats on your upcoming nuptuals, mmmms! I hope married life is all you hoped for, plus more! And I hope the wedding is lovely. You do realize we’ll need photographic evidence, right?

What’s a top o’ fiver, beebs?

Sorry you’re feeling poorly, BooFae. And yes, all the sickies definitely need to get better ASAP!

Steve the ACRG called last night – turns out I had a bad memory module. So he pulled the bad one and is going to replace it with a nice big new one. I’m just glad the hard drive wasn’t bad, considering it’s only seven months old. Although these days you can never tell. Anyway, so that’s another crisis averted. Have I mentioned how much I hate computer crashes?

It’s already nice and warm outside, and should get even warmer, in the 60s and sunny all week. This is the kind of spring weather that just puts a spring in your step, y’know? Plus I can leave the door open for the dogs. I usually put several miles a day on walking to the back of the house to open the door, close the door, open the door, close the door, rinse and repeat.

Time to get back to work. Have a good day, everybody!

Currently, it’s Hank.

Pie, this video made me think of you.

[/gratuitous online flirting]

You should produce Restoration Drama porn! I’m sure the academics would dig it.

Mornin’, y’all.

I just got to work at 0930, when my day usually starts 0630-0700. Remember way back in Jan-yoo-ai-ree when I hit the deer? Well, the van got fixed almost right away, but between the body shop and their tenant rental car agency, we were spitting nail over how we were treated. One of the instructions given was that because they had to repaint the side Bambi left his/her impressions on, not to wash the vehicle for 60 days.

Well, 2 weeks ago, I took the van to the car wash, seein’ how it was 10 weeks later and the thing was grubbier than hell. When I got home (50 miles and an hour later), I noticed the moldings on the Bambi side fell off. One order of  for the car wash, ^2 for the body shop.

I tried several ways to voice my [del]murderous rampage[/del]extreme displeasure with the body shop, but the one that finally worked was when I called my insurance company, gave them the claim number, and said I wanted to raise all kinds of hell about the job the body shop did and to put a ding in their prefered status with the insurance company. That got a lot of attention real fast. So, today, I took the van back for new moldings and a detailing that they never did the first time. No charge of any kind, including the rental car. One down, one to go.

My beef with the rental car agency (sounds like the name of a certain spaceship on Star Trek) is related to two incidents. When we set up the original appointment, we talked to the agency manager and resrved a large vehicle to handle VWife’s scooter. It didn’t have to be lift equipped, just big enough to hold the thing and the backup ramp we have. So, when we took the van in, we sat for 3 hours (not an exageration) before we got the rental, and we got a Chrysler 300 Sedan. Gaudy, and thoroughly inappropriate for what we needed (another van or SUV). Came to find out that we signed in at 0800, and at 0840, the SUV held for us went out to someone else after the agent ripped off the hold notices. The same agent was also responsible for the 3 hour wait because of the way she was handling people.

This morning, I wnt in loaded for bear (N. O. S.), expecting to find the same incompetent agent, hoping for a chance to rip her 2 or 3 new assholes, only to find out she was transferred out of that office and replaced by someone who knew how to compute simple interest. That sure took the wind out of my sails.

On the brighter side, the replacement was of the callipygian persuasion, and wore stiletto heels to the office.

Enough lamenting. I need to report something that I might just start a thread on; sights you never expected to see. Going home yesterday, I was about 5 minutes away when I saw a pickup truck moving very slowly down the shoulder of the other lane. and :dubious: When I passed it, I saw (s)he was towing a horse at a slow trot, tied to the trailer hitch…

 Is that legal, bob??

Beats the hell out of me…

My first impression was the horse got out, and was being led home. Although since it was being towed, all kinds of wisecracks about mechanical breakdowns come to mind.

Morning all…though it’s not really going to be morning for much longer here…

Dopefest was fun last night. It ended up being me and 5 guys. There was much talk about baseball that went right over my head. Unfortunately, Hawkeyeop got stuck at work and couldn’t go. He ended up getting home about 1am. New computer systems that don’t work right = not too good.

Finally got the problem solved with the chick that handles the systems requests. I talked to my manager (and forwarded applicable emails) and then my manager talked with hers. :: whew :: Anyway, thankfully her manager took care of it and helped me out a lot. I have further at the slightest indication of rudeness/unhelpfulness.

interview in t-2 hours.

Good luck, tiny rodent!

Oh, that makes so much more sense that pepper! :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m glad our other Northern Dopers also said 50 is warm in the spring. In Sept we’ll be complaining when it gets down to 50, but compared to the weather we have been having, it feels great. And today should be in the 60s. Yay for spring!

I let the kitty out on the patio again this morning just for a couple minutes. She really likes being outside. It’s cute.

Does anyone have any good soybean recipes? We bought some with the intent of being all healthy-like, but now I don’t know what to do with them. I’ve search for recipes, but it’s hard to know what’s good and what’s not. I’d rather have a Mumper suggested idea. Thanks!

waves at the others in the hospital ward Do we get chicken soup here? I like chicken soup…

I don’t think it was, wouldn’t it have gone weird before four months if it was something electrical? And our VCR and dvd player still work, and they were on the same circuit (those three are plugged into a power bar, the only other electronics in the living room are a cassette deck and a lamp and those are in two seperate plug ins…).

I did get a warranty on it, just in case. So I ended up calling Future Shop to ask if I could return it and the guy gave me a number to call their tech service to get a tech out to look at it. So I called them and they said to call the TV tech guys because it was still under manufacturers warranty… so I did and that guy asked me if I had my receipt and just to take it in and exchange it. Which is what I wanted to do in the first place. My friend is driving me tomorrow night to do it, and I’m treating for supper since she’s saving me cab fare. Until then we get to live with the battered old smaller tv with no remote (which means no dvds!) and sticky channel buttons (thanks to Velociraptor).

Taxi, are these dried soybeans or the fresh green ones (aka edamame)? No recos for the dried beans, but I love me some edamame! Most of the time I just steam or boil the whole pods, sprinkle generously with salt and then eat as-is right out of the pods. If I’m feeling particularly fancified I make edamame crostini (recipe here). I’ve also heard of people also subbing shelled edamame for fava beans in dishes like succotash or soups, though I haven’t tried that out yet.

Flutter, good luck with the TV. Maybe it’s just me turning into an old crank, but it seems like they just aren’t making things the way they used to… things break much too easily these days.

Soooooo sleepy… hmmmgggzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Can someone wake me up when it’s time for my 1pm meeting? Kthxbye.

Well, that’s good, flutter! Yeah, I guess if it’s on a power strip it can’t be your electrics, which is a good thing–however I’d replace the power strip just in case the TV did it a damage.

Well, the swelling in my face is down considerably although my mouth still looks like I had a stroke and my eye looks like I went a couple hard rounds with old Iron Mike. I suspect I’m going to have some pretty good bruising from it–I bruise easily at the best of times and this was a very major edema. Pain is less as well, I went 16 hours between doses of Aleve and slept most of the night without an ice pack.

bob, speaking of things you don’t expect to see and horses, I once overtook a truck pulling a stakeside trailer that had something odd and knobby sticking up out of it and as I went past I realized it was a dead horse with all four hooves pointing up! Freaked me right out, that did.

Here, I’m throwing a five gallon bucket o’chicken soup into the MMP for all the sickies: SPLOOSH!!! That oughta do it!

And I consider weather in the 50s to be quite clement–I don’t hit the shorts until about 65 or so but in the 50s I’ll wear a skirt and no jacket so it counts.

Good going, pprlessgrl! What are you going to do now that you’ve done with the pprs?

I have no choice but to go out today because we’re all out of just about everything! The dogs got a can of cat food in their kibble this morning and we’re completely out of things to make coffee pale which is totally unacceptable. So I get to scare the Winco people with my troglodyte face, yay! Well, at least I can see out of both my eyes today which makes driving a bit less of an adventure… I’m going to stock up on comfort food of the soft variety and definitely some CHOCOLATE. I deserve it after all this pain ‘n suffering, dammit! I also need to get something to quell the annual invasion of GIANTZ–these things are about big enough to carry off a Cornish game hen apiece and I hates them, yes I does. A little Diazinon under the laundry room and a few traps and Bob’s (N.O.B.) yer uncle. Fuckin’ insects, gah…

rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrring!
eta

Now I gotta wash this top again! :stuck_out_tongue:

If you’re turning into an old crank Muppet, then so am I.

Sheesh I have a nice old record player that still works fine, and my last walkman which also works fine (been dropped many times and looks like it, heck had to pop the case back together and it still works) but my mp3 player broke at a sneeze (well, not quite but it seems like it, just walking) and my laptop is borked because of a freaking solder (on the motherboard, which to be fixed needs to be completely replaced… at a cost of a whole new laptop).

Stuff should last damnit!!
