Lesbian Gingerbread - A Chocolatey and Nostalgic MMP

There was a thread on how to do umlauts not too long ago (Feb of this year?), but I cannot recall the instructions. I’m on a Mac, so it’s all different, anyway.

You’re going to bed and you live in Florida? It’s 2pm there.

I have class soon. I cannot tell you how much I wish I were discussing poetry instead of financial aspects of library science, but I’m not. <sigh>

I don’t miss school at all, but upon occasion, I’d like to have a discussion re certain poems or literary works. I’m no English scholar (I tested out of college English, which was most likely a disservice to me, but I digress), but I’d like to do that every now and then. I am not sure I’d want to start one here–the Dope gets so contentious and scathing; me, I want a kinder, gentler discussion group (the comments and remarks aspect anyway).

Am blathering on. Don’t want to go to class. Have not done the practicum work or any work on my paper. I suck.

eleanorigby, I’m all for a kinder and gentler discussion group. I much prefer talking about poetry with friends over coffee or (back in the day) several beers than picking it to death in a classroom.

I’m going to bed now because I work third shift. I’ll just read two more threads and then it’s right off to bed for me, I promise. Any minute now. Maybe three threads…

**Haze **- great OP. Thanks for sharing it and the recipe.

It reminds me of my exchange-student year in Scotland - I and another American made tacos for about 5 English and Scottish friends (which they insisted on pronouncing “TAA-cos” with an A as in “apple” not TAH-cos…). Between that and about 4 cases of Tennant’s lager (which at the time featured pictures of comely UK lasses on them…) we had a great time…

Drive by… it’s almost 10 PM, I’m still up to my eyeballs in work, and I’m going on a three day vacation, starting out at 6:30 AM tomorrow!

Envy me.

And pretend to miss me when I don’t post before Thursday…

Bye!

Great OP Haze and I love the title, it brought out a bunch of new cool kids. Welcome everyone, the initiation here is less exciting than for the SDMB, all you need is to pay a tribute of beer and cockies to swampy and fine chocolate to FCM, because she is nice, dammit!

pprgrl, whenever I need something my keyboard cannot do I just copy and paste from the character map in the system tools folder. And yes, you are one of the cool kids, stick around. Now, for a nickname…hmm…

MamaTigs boo for computer sicknesses.

Morgyn ouch, and I’m not even a mother! Hey, another new cool kid! The more the merrier.

LiLi yay for working sewing machines.

It’s a beautiful day here, and I don’t have to go into work, so I am doing a little spring cleaning. I’ve done a lot but I am finding it hard to get up the motivation to finish. Well I guess that I better. Later all.

Wallflower: no nickname yet, please. I need to change my username because it’s also my job description. For a job that I won’t have anymore after Sunday.

I am however currently accepting suggestions for a new username. Lesbian Gingerbread is sounding pretty good right now…

That’s what I said, and I’m not a mother, either.

(Actually, I’ve posted in the MMP before, just very, very rarely.)

Harold Bloom is so last century. Are you a literature major perchance? I miss poetry classes, although my favorite part of class was always afterwards, when we’d be so hyped about the work we talked about in class that we’d go get coffee to continue the discussion.

Take Lesbian Gingerbread as your new screen name! I dares ya!

Heh, if I were in the market for a new username I might consider fighting you for it, it is a good one, but I’m happy with what I have, and I don’t think it would fit any of the other regular Mumpers.

:Also loves poetry but is afraid of Dope discussions:

That’s awesome.
I found some decent suggestions for biting, and I’ll try them tonight. I don’t think the kidlet’s teething, and he’s only three months (tomorrow! Hurray!) so no chance of weaning him. He doesn’t even like bottles. We’ll see if the suggestions work. (Unlatch, say No, pull baby closer so he has momentary difficulty breathing and lets go.)
I think I’ll browse the recipe blog and decide what we’re having for dinner.

I am dumb when it comes to poetry, never found my way into it beyond what was necessary for English class. Would you please explain what I’ve quoted from you?

Just a quick stop:

Fabulous OP Haze, and nummy sounding gingerbread! And excellent bait for new Mumpers!

Lots of empathy for VWife, and even more sympathy for VBob.

li-li The Boy cut his teeth at three months, and when he began to make me bleed on a regular basis, I weaned him. I hope for the best with you and TNC.

Spazz the best treatment I have ever found is canned pumpkin. Not the pie filling, just plain pumpkin. It will cure the trots right up, I promise!

Okay, gotta run.

Oh–nighty-night, then.

Let’s do a poetry corner for MMPers! Let me get through this week and then maybe I’ll start something.

I’m in class and the Wunderkind is spouting off again about how caring and nurturing she is (we had to create progressive discipline approaches for 3 different problem employees). I so want to say to her–“nurture THIS!”. She’s an ass and types her name like this (not her name): P.o.L.l.Y. No idea why. Very irritating. Also, we’re on break now, but our instructor didn’t turn off her mic and the music isn’t playing and so we are listening to her eat chips or something crunchy. Ew.

Gluck (missing umlaut, have forgotten how to do them) in the poem Wild Iris takes the voice of a flower, god and a person, if memory serves.

attempt at umlaut: u–it’s control and some key on a Mac. Cannot remember which one. damn.

sigh Was going to get the car gassed up but was running late. Did not want to get out of bed this morning. Yesterday was homemade waffles (delectable) with lovely dark maple syrup. I need to have a 30k mile check up on the car, need a dr. check-up, don’t wanna do either so am procrastinating for all I’m worth!

Hazel, that recipe sounds scrumptious and the description of your friends brought me to wishing I still had contact with some people I’ve lost.

Love “quit o’clock” and may have to borrow it on occasion.

Funny how no matter how old one’s children are, a mother can still feel responsible and want to fix things for them.

I’m really supposed to be working and am jumping all over the place here. Some wonderful posts and I’ve enjoyed visiting each one’s mini-view of their world today.

May the rest of the week go smoothly for all!

So let me get this straight. I come barging in here, waving my stupid large burger around, and I’m welcomed for it? Even asked after the fact if I mind that it’s been deployed on a recipe blog? Sweet!

And it’s totally OK. Go forth and spread the gospel of the stupid large burger. Let us take this moment to remember cooking threads of old.

ok, so my 'net connection hiccupped and I got a double post. My apologies!

dö yöü mean this:

cöntröl-ü, then ‘ü’ (ör ‘ö’) again

FWIW, control-o is ø, control-a is å, should you ever need them.

Hello ThirdOne! Welcome to the MMP, mwahaha. Yes, sturmhauke, all are welcomed and forgiven here.

Just got done showing off apartment to current grad students. They look so young and fresh-faced, albeit thesis-weary.
