Let Elian go!!

Let him go back to Cuba already. After all, he is an illegal immigrant. What if some illegals show up in Texas or California and the mother says, “Leave my child here, he’ll have a better life”.

Sure, Elian is cute and all, but I don’t like where this could lead.

But if we send Elian back to Cuba, that could ease U.S./Cuba relations! We might set up normal diplomatic and trade relations with Cuba! If that happens, then Fidel won’t have a Great Enemy near his country and Communism might fade! What? Do you want that to happen???

I agree - Elian should go home, but not for the reasons KM2 stated. God forbid I should ever agree fully with KlanMan2.

“Don’t Do It.”

Yeah, Cuba could wind up being a state, fer crissakes. Might even move the Capitol there.

The first European explorers, settlers and colonists were illegal immigrants, unless you think they were somehow invited by the folks who were here before them?

When all else fails, ask Cecil.

Pure politics. U.S. immigration law says he has to go back. Family law in all 50 states says the father now has full custody, so he has to go back unless the dad can be shown to be unfit, which no one alleges. There is no just legal cause for letting him stay.
