I thought the movie was fine. I didn’t think they did enough to fully expand on Face’s role in the group. So if you weren’t familiar with the TV series, I’m not sure that it was clear that he was the “get stuff by hook or by crook” guy. I was also disappointed that BA didn’t whistle the theme song when he was on the scaffolding as they showed in the previews. Other than that, I thought they did a good job. It was pretty standard A-team action…sure there was more death, but I don’t think you could say that there was any more actual violence than on the TV series. Anyway…an enjoyable afternoon.
And no reloads unless they happen to involve Baracus (is that how you spell it?) and something HUGE that goes KA-CHUNK! when loaded.
I like the principled stand against pacifism.
Read any A-Team review and notice which reviewers complain about the ending. They did not get it.
There’s no other way they could have ended a movie based on the A-Team without keeping them on the run from the law for a crime they didn’t commit.
Technically by the end they were arrested for a crime they did commit. Breaking out of a federal prison. But that’s ok…still a good movie. I’d say that I’d like to see a tv series come back, but while Liam Neilson did a great job as Hannible, I don’t know who else you would get to fill George Peppard’s shoes.
Saw this last night. That movie was FREAKING AWESOME!!!
I went and saw The Losers today. Does that count for anything?
I saw it Tuesday night and loved it…it delivered exactly what was promised…crazy action, and some humor. The actor playing Murdoch was great…yeah, everything he said was just comic relief, but it was [good comic relief. He was great toeing that line of “is he really a little crazy, or just really good at pretending to be crazy?”
Also, for those that didn’t stay through the end of the credits:
The original Faceman makes an appearance. Bradley Cooper asks him how he stays looking so young, or something like that, and he goes “Well, you never mess with the face…”
And then there’s a scene with Murdoch getting electroshock and I’m pretty sure one of the doctors was the original Murdoch.
George Clooney?
Oh Og, not that slimy, schmalzy piece of shit. Hannibal needs to be kickass, not some charming, rogueish whateverthehell.
10/10. Perfect. The platonic ideal of an action movie. The best TV to movie adaptation I can recall.
We took the kids last night to see it and we adults loved it.
The story line was a bit confusing for the kids ( 10 and 12) but I explained that it was a Summer Movie of Things That Go BOOOOOOM and The IMPOSSIBLE IS DONE and It’s ALL GOOD.
Plot Summary :
Something got stolen. It needs to get stolen back by the guys that stole it in the first place. So it gets stolen. Then it gets stolen again by someone else and needs to be stolen back to clear their names. Clear as mud?
I also liked the Bad Guy, though he didn’t get fleshed out until the last 15 minutes.
I thought the final fight scene was a bit confusing, but overall, I loved it.
I also thought that Murdock was a bit flat, but following THE MURDOCK is a tough act. The mental hospital scene with the 3-d movie and the truck crashing through the wall and the cheering of the patients was AWESOME! 'It’s like they are firing real bullets!
Face’s role was more flexible and adaptable than I remember, but I was a hormonal teenager then, so what do I know? Bradley Cooper is HAWT!
I’d watch Liam Neeson read the newspaper. He was speaking with is brogue in the opening scene and then it disappeared. I would have slid off my freakin’ seat had he spoken with it then entire movie. swoon
The part where Hannibal has crawled out of the cremation oven and says to the attendant, something like, " Satan walks into this bar…" I loved My kids were mortified with my guffaws of laughter.
I was wondering what happened here. I couldn’t make out what Hannibal was saying.
I just saw it this afternoon. I wasn’t expecting much, just something reasonably diverting on a very hot day. It was much better than I thought it would be. An Awesome action fantasy. I actually thought it was pretty well plotted, if you could suspend disbelief for the more over the top scenes. Even the scene with the tank was good, though it looked ridiculous in the trailers. Rampage did a surprisingly good job filling Mr. T’s shoes, and the villains were entertainingly smarmy and evil.
If you haven’t seen it check out Smoking Aces another Joe Carnahan preposterous shoot 'em up.
The movie was lots of fun, the plot was about this deep, but really, what were you expecting, Speed Racer? Lots of fun characters, not to mention right hand vs left hand stuff going on with the government agents trying to catch them after they escaped.
Anybody notice how Jessica Biel’s character never seemed so much surprised at whatever the team had done as annoyed? This stuff is old hat to her by the time we meet her, and it’s a hat she’s mildly irritated by at that.
Also, the scene with Pike and the CIA agents in the car.
Last request? Don’t let this guy shoot me?
The best line in the movie by far was Biel’s: “They’re trying to fly the tank.” It’s delivered with a sense of total exasperation, and works both in the movie and as a commentary on the movie: Well, of course they’re trying to fly a tank by firing the gun. It’s just the sort of ridiculous thing I would expect from these guys / this movie. And I bet those sonsofbitches/screenwriters will get away with it too, Jesus Christ.
Hey, Surlychick and Alessan, how did you two like the movie? After all your enthusiasm Surlychick, I’d think you’d have a lot to say.
Sadly, I haven’t been able to see it yet! Things have been really busy here but I’m going on vacation next week so will see it then. Can’t wait!
Yeah, that was when I started rooting for the bad guy.
I’m still waiting for it to open here. Based on this thread, I’ll probably see it.
