PatriotX gave me the idea, trying to make a verb out of Lekatt. (And I believe Princhester has been trying to popularize the term.)
As an example, once when I was in the army, I knew someone named Lombardo, who had the habit of “borrowing” other people’s posessions.
“Lombardo! Those are my shoes you’re wearing!”
“Oh? Well, you weren’t using them, were you?”
“And what happened to my hamburger? Did you take that, too?”
“Well, it was only getting cold, and I knew you don’t like cold burgers, so I ate it. I saved the rest for you, here.”
So we coined the verb, “to lomborrow,” which means to appropriate something belonging to another without their permission or knowledge. Giving it back is optional only if discovered.
Then there was Grishman, whose main hobby was “borrowing” cigarettes, which were consumed, of course, and not replaced. So “to grish” meant to lomborrow something which could not be given back.
Any ideas for SDMB poster’s names?
Here’s one (weak, I know): A Princhester: a legal rifle down under
