I’ll bump your thread, and consider it. I’m in Houston, which is sort of a suburb of San Antone (~200 miles).
Aww. If only you were staying for a few more months, heh. I’ll quite possibly be moving to Austin in March.
My new employer is located in San Antone – even though I work and live in Tallahassee. I will be in S.A. the 30th and 31st of January – if a Dopefest materializes.
Figures. We spend New Year’s in SA and you show up after we leave.

By my calendar, January 30th and 31st are the same weekend as February 1st. That’s also Superbowl Weekend, which might not be a bad time for a Houstonian to be out of town.
Woo hoo! Okay, how does Saturday evening, the 31st, sound? Unless we get some actual San Antonians to chime in with advice for a venue, I’ll do some asking around and see what I come up with.
Can we get a rodeo involved?? Or at least a ropin?

I just had to say that that is one of those things I miss about Tx, hehe. For a city 200m away to be “sort of a suburb.” It’d be like saying I’m in a sort of suburb of Chicago (Kalamazoo, MI).
But it is a day’s drive across the state, so 200m isn’t a big deal.
I got mighty used to long drives going from Austin to Dallas or San An on a fairly regular basis.
PS: Isn’t Houston larger than San An? So SA would be a suburb of Houston? Not sure.
That’s a possiblity. Of course, we would all have to be in ‘witty comeback’ top form.
Yes, Houston is larger, but I believe SA’s in the top ten in the country. The drive’s ~2½ hours.
