All right, I’m in.
I’ve been losing weight since October 1st, when I was 225 or so. Now I’m 221.4.
Going to shoot for 215 by Thanksgiving.

I just found out that my 4 oz of vodka (of which I usually consume 4 each night, mixed with a zero calorie soda) has 260 calories! On the other hand, 5 oz of my Chardonnay only has 120 calories! Good things to know… I’d like to give the new MGD (I think?) 65 calorie beer a whirl and see if it’s any good. God help me, I can’t give up my drinks. There has to be some fun left in all of this. In all honesty, I’ll sooner cut my food calories than my drink calories! Best of luck!
Well, according to my Wii Fit (which I had shamefully neglected after getting off track a couple of months ago after some family issues), I’m down about 2 and a half pounds from last Friday. I think it’s accurate, too, because I had a doctor’s appointment yesterday and their scales said I was 4 pounds lighter than at my appointment 2 weeks ago.
Am I reading this right? 2 cups (4 x 4 oz) of vodka a night?
I’ve cut out drinking Sunday night through Friday afternoon. It’s got two plus sides. The first is that I’m consuming a LOT less calories. The second is that, after abstaining for 4-5 days, the drinks on the weekend are oh, so good!
Just a little plug - if anybody’s interested, the MPSIMS group running the Couch to 5K plan is very supportive, and some of us have lost a ton of weight doing it without even trying to. (I’m down two pants sizes and all I wanted was to be more fit - not complaining, though!)
I never knew that’s what that thread was all about. I will look into it. Thanks! I seriously need to up my activity levels.
Some nights, yes. It’s combined with 8 oz of some sort of clear diet soda. I may have the first one around 5:30 and the last one round 2 am. It’s spaced way out and just doesn’t seem excessive to me.
Anyway, I’m down three pounds, now.
Well, cutting that amount to a cup of vodka a night would save you about a pound a week. More than a fifth of vodka every two days seems a bit much to me (and I consider myself a moderate-to-heavy drinker), but that’s just me. shrug
Ok, back to the OP…
OK. 175.9 here. Just three more to go (for my five pound goal.) Woo hoo!
Well, tomorrow’s another Thursday! Only three weeks left! How is everyone doing? I’m down 5 lbs. Is anyone still with me?
I’ve lost 9 of the 15 that I want to lose since the end of August but even if I stopped eating altogether I couldn’t lose 15 pounds by thanksgiving. I’ll be happy if I lose 3 more by then and only gain back one of them over that weekend.
I like those calculators. They say that I can eat more calories than I thought I could when I lose the last 6.
Still here…getting weighed tonight (big meal last night but back on track today). Will report back in the morning!
Damn it! I’m up a pound from yesterday! Still down 4 from where I started. What is it about 40 that made my metabolism stop!?
-.8 last night, for a total so far of -4.2
Still possible to hit 15 by 11/27 – three more weeks, eh?
They put out a challenge at WW last night to lose 5% of your current weight by Jan 1. That would be 13 pounds for me. Should be doable.
.4 more pounds and I’ll have lost 65, or 20% of my original weight.
Well after being really good all last week, I have gained back two pounds this week. So, I’m redoubling my efforts. All the Halloween candy is out of my house and my office (the office is where I really tend to fall down) and I have a menu for all my meals for the next 2 weeks written up. I tend to do better if I don’t have to think about what I am going to eat, so the menu in advance helps. All in all I am still down 4 pounds from the start of October, so I am trying to focus on that.
I lost a whole bunch of weight in my early 40s and I remember that frustrated feeling of being stuck at a plateau no matter what I ate or how much I exercised. A few things worked for me to get my metabolism going again. Not everyone can fit this in their schedule but working out first thing in the morning and waiting an hour before I ate helped a lot, as did drinking twice as much water and alternating workouts between weight training and aerobics.
I’m doing Zumba for aerobics these days and I love it (except for the 20 year olds who don’t even break a sweat). It’s fun if you like to dance and the DVDs are only about $30. It’s high impact so it’s not a good idea for anyone with foot or leg problems.
-1.8 last night, for a total of -6.
Blood pressure this morning 112/72 woot!
But my iron was too low to give blood.
