SDMB Weight Loss Club, November

OK guys. I’m going to be busy tonight and was afraid I would forget to start the November thread, so here it is. As always good luck losing!
Link to Oct thread

Let’s start the month out right, then.

219.5

I’m not busting through the wall, I’m dismantling it brick by brick. And some ass keeps putting the bricks back on.

Hey tdn I’ve been meaning to ask you. What’s the name of that workout DVD you use again? I missed my walk this morning because it was raining and realized that I don’t really have a plan B except to sleep in and try again tomorrow. If I was armed with a DVD or two I might get up and do that instead.

I feel quite certain that I’ll like it because I know you like it. How’s that for reason and logic.

I weighed in at 169 today so I’m slowly losing that vacation bloat. I’m happy about that.

Don’t worry too much about the brick layers. They have to take a break sometime, union rules.

Still recovering from this last weekend, but today I weighed in at 190. Goals for November are 3lbs a week. Quite a lofty goal and it is going to be tough, especially with Thanksgiving. My goal for the end of the week (Nov 3) is 189, 186 (Nov 10), 183 (Nov 17), 180 (Nov 24), and 177 by Dec 1st. Lets see if I can keep that momentum up.

Here’s the video. Please don’t be put off by the cheesy web site and the hard sell marketing. There’s a mountain of bullshit to sift through, and there’s a lot of upselling. But if you can navigate through the sleeze, the actual videos are worth it.

I have added weight lifting machines to my regimen. We’ll see what happens in a month.

That’s pretty ambitious. I’m going to try to match that.

For me that would be 216.5, 213.5, 210.5, and 207.5. If I can pull that off, I’ll be just a few pounds away from a major waypoint.

See you on the other side!

I haven’t moved an inch since last month, still sitting at basically 180 +/- 2 lbs :frowning:

On the upside, I ran a solid 4.5 miles on Sunday, which is double what I’ve ever run before.

Lost another pound and a half last week, then ate some Chinese and gained it back. Hopefully it’s just water, though.

I also added weights on - gotta get rid of the jiggly arms.

This is going to be rough. I’m not quite back down to what my “acceptable” weight range is, and I’ve got Thanksgiving and almost 2 weeks away (to the midwest, then a cross-country road trip) that will not be condusive to me keeping off what I know I need to.

And then December rolls around…

<gulp>

More than likely! A huge portion of Chinese food (Sesame Chicken, the fried kind), typically has 1200-1500 calories depending on the place. It doesn’t get much worse than that. Unless you ate the whole thing and three of em in the course of a day it is likely water. Fried stuff makes me retain water.

Aye! Sounds good, good luck to you. I really want to lose 2lbs a week, but I am valiantly striving for 3lbs so that way the 2lbs is a minimum. If I aim for 2lbs I end up cheating and only losing 1-1.5lb. I am not EXPECTING to cheat, but I’m sure it may happen, so if I only lose 2-2.5lbs I am still making good progress.

I know I’m not tdn, and you didn’t ask me, but I’m going to tell you anyway. Anyway, since you’re a walker you might like the Leslie Sansone videos. I haven’t personally tried them but I think some other members here have?

Sounds like a bit of friendly competition going on between Epimetheus and tdn I’m rooting for both of you.

tdn that web site is a bit much to wade through and there are quite a few different videos. Which one or which series are you using?

It’s a bit misleading, but what you get is the whole package. The button at the bottom leads to the order form.

There are 5 DVDs pictured, but what you really get is 2 DVDs (in one case) that have all 5 workouts. You also get a tape measure, a book (which contains, among other things, recipes), a progress chart, flash cards, and workout gloves. (Which I never got.)

The only things you need to supply are a DVD player and hand weights, which she recommends at 3-5 pounds for women, 8-10 for men.

That site makes it look like there’s a dizzying array of things, but really there’s not. It’s basically just two things, an aerobic workout and a strength workout, which last 40 minutes each and will make you sweat like a politician. There’s also a training video, a short (20 minute) workout, and an ab workout that will make you feel like you’ve been punched in the gut.

Somewhere along the ordering process there might be a place for you “request” additional “free gifts.” What you choose at that point is up to you, but you’ll probably end up spending way more. Be careful. But if you just click the button and avoid the extras, you’ll end up with what I have.

yellowval, I’m one of the ones who was doing Leslie Sansone. It’s great stuff, but Turbo Jam kicks it up several notches, and is way more fun.

Bust a move, yo.

It makes me retain water like the dickens, too. I had about 3/4 cup of orange chicken and 1/2 cup of 10-ingredient fried rice. It was worth every bite! Plus, I’ve kept up with working out and I’m running tonight, so that’ll help.

Keep fighting the good fight, folks. My next weigh-in is on Monday 5th. Target for this month is 252 or less by the 26th, and 238 or less by year end. The walking is going so well that I need a new pair of work shoes.

So… Tell me, is there a squidding if I join the SDMB Weight Loss Club?

I hope not. Otherwise I’ll threaten to bring pie!!

::wanders off to face the scale::

I am not weighing myself this morning, but yesterday was 167.

eats the filling and throws away the crust…

Well… Yeah. The crust is nothing but refined carbs, sugar, and trans fat. The filling is Nature’s Goodness.

Welcome, Purplkid_Caterer. Doesn’t squid have a lot of omega 3?
