I’m not sure many of you saw this thread, which evolved from a “What Can I do in This Part of Michigan?” thread to a “Woot, Any Excuse for a DoperDinner!” thread.
So. Who is around this weekend besides myself? I suggest we have dinner on Saturday or Sunday. It can be Ann Arbor or Lansing or somewhere inbetween, if there is a worthwhile place between the two to chow down.
Get your butts in here and start helping me plan this. Now, damnit. You can’t all have exciting weekends planned.
Thanks Cranky! I went to Ann Arbor last night with some people from my team, we went to a place called Zanzibar. Ann Arbor is a lot further from Lansing than I expected. No big deal, I just thought it was closer. Great place though. I’m picking up my wife who’s flying in this evening so we’re up for anything.
Cranky I don’t think there’s much between Ann Arbor and Lansing other than cornfields. And the occasional soy field. I’m up for something this weekend though.

Come to MSU on Sunday night, everyone - we’ll have dinner someplace downtown and afterward I can show you around the Horticultural Gardens. (The roses will be dead in a week or two. Don’t miss them!)
You know, there is a new restaurant that just opened in Williamston, and it got good reviews in the Lansing State Journal. Williamston is itself supposed to be a charming little town, with antique shops and whatnot. It’s not far from Lansing, but just enough east to shave a little time off those of us coming from elsewhere.
It’s called the Williamston RoadHouse, and it’s at 500 Williamston Center Road. That’s the corner of Williamston Center and Linn Roads–just north of the I-96 exit for Williamston.
If we make it for Sunday, tsarina could join us, right? Would your wife still be in town, Antiquarian? Saturday is also a possibility, but I know that would preclude tsarina from showing.
Alas it does look like my weekend is booked pretty solid. I have plans with my family on Friday, then on Saturday I promised my best friend that I would help her clean and start packing up her house as she is getting ready to move in a couple of weeks. Then on Sunday I have to work. Have fun everybody!
I’m around…plus its my birthday today. And I’m leaving on Tuesday. So…where/when is dinner?
Hey, Cranky… looks like Sunday might be a possibility after all. Turns out the family is getting together today, so I might be able to come out.

I haven’t figured out if Antiquarian’s comments in his own thread mean he’s not available, but I see no reason not to go ahead and get some of us together. If he can make it all, the better. How about 5:45 Sunday at the Williamston RoadHouse, address and directions as above.
HelloAgain and I will probably stop off at the Tanger Outlet Mall on our way there, as I’ve heard they’ve having sidewalk sales all weekend. Unless, of course, we’ve got to fetch Persephone. Maybe Medea’s Child or MrBlue92 can pick her up? She’s not on the boards of late so we’ve got to coordinate it offline or via livejournal.

I’ll be there - I’m the 40-something male, also with glasses, and a hairline that acts like one of the Grand Old Duke of York’s 10 thousand men. It’s marched up to the top of the hill and started down the other side.
Cute Kid Story about my hairline - my family and I were swimming in the neighbor’s pool this afternoon, and I got a bit too much sun. Ralf Jr. came in and stood behind the chair where I’m sitting, and said I had a sunburn. He wanted to put some aloe on it for me.
“You’re not putting any goop on my hair!”, I grumbled.
“Don’t worry, dad”, he said. I’m putting it on the top of your head. It won’t be anywhere near your hair!".

Well, I’m planning on being there, too. Er…I’ll be the young twenties college kid. No glasses, hair color depends on how much exposure to the sun I’ve had (as I’m going to be outside a lot this weekend).
Mark me down as a maybe…I’m supposed to go out tonight, and I had gamers over last night and three days in a row might be a bit much for my parents. (They get cranky about me being home and never seeing them)
If I can manage to get there, I’d be happy to snag Persephone on my way. She can ride in my biggest birthday present.
