Let's go Brandon

That makes about 90% of the comedians in the world incompetent. What a weird irony-free world you live in. You must get tons of laughs with your “Moron says what?” gag.

This has been going on for at least 30 years, with the Presidency at least, when every Democratic candidate for the office is the “Most Liberal EVER!”

But even there, they at least tried to put fig leaf on it with references to their voting record, or something.

But take a look at anyone trying to say that AOC is “stupid”. They just can’t come up with anything “stupid” she’s actually done. She’s just stupid by fiat, no evidence needed.

Right - self-pwning self-insults all the way down. Got it.

Twitter made a big deal about AOC in Miami maskless, and she claimed all who were calling her on it “wanted” her. That’s stupid.

What do yours show, when you make them?

I mean: in your opinion, are all self-insults a showing of incompetence?

The Tweet in question:

The photo doesn’t show AOC breaking any mask mandates - she’s outside, and the only other person in the picture is her boyfriend. So, the stupid part here is the people on Twitter pretending that this is some sort of “gotcha.” The weird part is the people on Twitter for some reason focusing on her boyfriend’s feet.

AOC ignoring the bullshit about the masking and focusing on the weirdos talking about her boyfriends feet isn’t stupid, it’s a clever way of responding to being trolled over a non-issue.

I think Biden should be judged on his accomplishments, which pretty much amount to spending a lot of money with no clear direction, and his abilities. I’ve not seen very much over the past year to give me confidence in Biden’s abilities. He’s basically passed bills that Republicans have agreed with, which should cheer me, but I fail to see how he has an agenda for what he wants to accomplish for the next four years.

So I think Biden is deserving of vulgar partisan derision, even if it’s contained in barely hidden euphemisms. I’m pretty sure that using insulting comments for politicians that this message board majorities disagree with is pretty common.

I think you’d find significant percentages of the board would agree with the basic, unvarnished sentiment of “Fuck Joe Biden.” The other part of “Let’s go Brandon” that’s so eye-rolly is the assumption that Democrats are mortally insulted when you make fun of someone they voted for.

Your bias is showing.

In the America that I live in, Joe Biden’s term only lasts three more years, btw. Which America do you live in?

Why “vulgar”? Why is that deserved?

You’re not answering the question. Was Joe Biden being high-minded or not when he replied “Let’s Go Brandon” during the Christmas interview. I think he had basically no idea of what was going on in the social media sphere when he made his reply. He made an ignorant reply, unaware of the publicity that was going on with social media, and ended up looking stupid and unaware as a result. Which, I restate, is pretty much how Joe Biden’s administration has been going.

I think you have no idea what is going on in Biden’s head if you think that.

Or, most probably, Biden was trolling the moron on the other end of the phone. He’s pretty good with quick comebacks & of course he’s aware of this idiot phrase. I suspect Biden was using it the way I do when I add “Let’s Go Brandon” on my FB posts about how great the economy is doing, the new infrastructure bill, the impressive number of judges Biden has appointed, etc. It’s such a profoundly lame insult and conservative cowards are so proud of it that it’s hard not to run with it.

Precisely. The interaction was the equivalent of dealing with a 3 year old.

“Time to take a bath.”
“I don’t want to! You’re a mean old poopy head!”
“Yep, and this mean old poopy head is gonna give you a bath now.”

This is just getting stupid. No, he wasn’t being purposefully high-minded. He was being vaguely polite and cooperative in the way one does when an unimportant person says incoherent things, as one might speak to a child with a mild head injury.

You want it to be a sign of incompetence that Biden is unaware of an irrelevant fad. Personally I find it a credit to his character and intellect. I wish the previous President had spent more time doing his job instead of stirring up food fights on Twitter.

Ubsubscribed for obvious toll* is obvious.

*The toll this is taking on my IQ. What did you think I meant?

Fuckin’ A.

I think he was being self-depreciative and dismissive. And if you insist on making it an analogy for his administration. it’s a demonstration of being able to do more than one thing at a time without beating everybody over the head with it.

Have you tried to answer mine yet?

I agree with this. Biden wasn’t aware at the moment of the interview of the meaning of “Let’s Go Brandon”. He most likely had been briefed on it before, but let’s face it, the man can only handle a few facts at a time. So, not understanding that he was being insulted, he just tried to move past what he thought was a weird moment. That’s the simple, likely explanation. The idea that Biden was being clever and counter-trolling is the absurdity I’m arguing against.

What a lovely new word. When something depreciates, it loses value. Someone who is self-depreciative is someone who causes himself to lose value. I totally agree that Biden’s presidency has been self-depreciative.

Your question was answered back in post #114.
“Yes, let’s wish Brandon Brown a Merry Christmas”
