Let's keep a happy thought in the MMP!

Blurf

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Closing shift tonight.

Blurf At irk but I don’t want to be. I am still sleepy.

Up, active, and looking for a local source for fountain pen cartriges in colors for my Christmas cards. Yeah - I could do internet ordering or just use bottled ink but I got my habits and I like to feed tham as I can.

Lunch time!!

It’s been a busy but productive morning. I have a whole pile of drawings that I need to roll over from an earlier project, and pretty much all that needs to be changed are the names, dates, and drawing forms. It’s tedious but easy, and there’s a feeling of accomplishment as the stack of drawings grows.

I’ve also found out that ex-boss was not much of a teacher. Two simple comments by a coworker has made a huge difference in how productive I’ve been. They did right to fire him.

So that’s my happy thought for today. D:

butters, the sixties is just about winter coat weather for you all down in the Keys, isn’t it?

I wish we’d get some rain too. TWPTB say that we will tomorrow or Friday, most likely. Our air quality sucks right now and there are wildfires in the eastern part of the state.

I wasted time doing rechecks this morning. As I came up with the same thing they got this weekend, I won’t bother with the rest of the verification. SIL is in the last week of radiation and is taking a couple of weeks off, as she’s immunocompromised. Her daughter and I will handle Thanksgiving so that she can get back on her feet.

Happy Hump Day!

It’s cloudy 55 degrees outside.

I was sleepy all morning so I gave in and took a nap.

I bitch about Sah-son procrastinating…
I need to get my emissions test and I keep putting it off. I have to have it done by next Hump Day.
I still haven’t started Christmas shopping. I’ve been looking, but haven’t bought anything.
I haven’t picked my new health plan yet.

I’m trying to get up the energy to go upstairs and get in the shower.

I don’t know what’s up for Thanksgiving this year. I hope nothing so I can stay home without feeling guilty. I’ll order a couple of turkey TV dinners. Then I’ll eat all of them since Sah-son doesn’t like turkey. So I’ll order one, or maybe two so I can have ‘leftovers’ the day after.

**FCD **called a few minutes ago. He said one of my daughter’s students from last year committed suicide. I don’t know any of the details, but how awful that an 8th grader decides it’s time to die. :frowning: Dunno if it involved bullying or problems at home or some other demon within… tragic…

Reporting in with happiness: it was cold last night and I awoke in a pile o’dogs: Tally nestled in my side, Baxter under the covers against my feet, and Chase in the crook of my knees. I sooooo didn’t want to get outta bed this morning!

FairyCMom: so sorry to hear about this suicide. One of my colleagues died suddenly over the weekend (not suicide, but totally unexpectedly) and I took over teaching his class. Breaking the news to them was awful, he was a beloved prof :frowning:

MOOMMM that is awful. Too young.

I came to give my good news for the day and it is that Lucky Louie is snoozing and snoring right here at irk as it should be.

Jaws That must have been hard to announce. Hugs all around.

Howdy Y’all! I’ve been to the sto’ for provisions, been to the liberry, and achieved nappage. Sounds like a good retired person’s day to me.

Lowe’s will deliver and install the dishwasher between one and three p.m. Firday. They say it won’t take more than half an hour. So, they’ll be here at three and leave at six, right?

MOOOOOOM how tragic! I sure your daughter and the child’s classmates are in shock.

Jaws that had to be a tough thing to announce.

Butters yay for HRH bein’ on his rightful throne.

Home after a very busy day. I’ve got the turkey carcass in a pot of water, finally, and it can cook down all evening. Sketties for supper. Oh, and I made a dish with some of the clay that’s sitting around up here. I may do something with the rest of it, depending on how motivated I feel.

My poor sweetie is soooooooo bored. The appointment with the lawyer isn’t till next Tuesday, so he’ll be twiddling his thumbs till then. I know this is hard on him, especially seeing how much his folks have degraded in the last few years. His dad, especially, is showing serious signs of forgetfulness. It’s so hard to see someone who was so bright and intelligent forget things from one day to the next. Old age isn’t for the faint of heart.

Hey, whazzup with the Jaws thing, lol:D

My username actually did come of an encounter with a shark!

One of the few requirements of the MMP is a nickname which may or may not have anything to do with your username. You’re gonna be **Jaws **as long as you post here, so just get used to it.

I made macaroni instead of sketties, but the sauce worked just fine. In fact, I’ve got enough for one more meal, so tomorrow’s lunch is ready. For the record, I don’t like it being pitch dark this early. That is all.

Wow, I guess this is my first MMP post in 12 years. I’m honored

Have you tried looking in a Hallmark store? I haven’t been to one in a while, but I recall one near me always had a huge selection of calligraphy pens and supplies, in every color imaginable.

And I am soooo glad to finally be home. Work just about killed me today. I finished off shopping for all the decorations for my charity-auction Christmas tree, delivered it to the event site, and decorated it there with help from one of my work co-horts. It turned out pretty good, so I hope it gets some good auction bids. Just our luck, though, that our tree is next to one of the most gorgeous trees I’ve ever seen. White tree, white lights, cascading ribbons, and framed with giant feather angel wings. Our tree is beautiful, but next to the angel tree, I felt just a little inferior. No worries, though. I’ll just be even more inspired for next year!

I’m settled in for another quiet evening at home. There’s a Law and Order marathon on, so all is good!

My wireless keyboard went haywire, several letters (o, h, t, others) simply stopped working (it couldn’t possibly be from the various Pepsi’s and other drinks I have spilled on it for the years). Still have an old USB keyboard so I hooked that up and can type away.

Jaws, hardest thing in the world is telling someone about someone’s death. Especailly in the conditions you were in. I’m sure you did it thoughtfully and compassionately.

Swept the floors and unlike Sara Cynthia Sylvia Stout (Sara Cynthia Sylvia Stout! - YouTube) I will be taking the garbage out this evening. Supposed to have a high of 80F tomorrow; next week is Thanksgiving–somethings don’t really go together…

Thank you for the kind words.

I finally got off my butt and cleaned the trunk of my car out this morning. This was followed by a good vacuuming and Armor All-ing. My car is now as clean as it was when I got it.

Dinner is pizza from Domino’s, half mushroom, half plain. I got too lazy to actually go out and I did too much earlier today, so I’m zonked.

Usually that is more bottled ink; what I am looking for is cartriges for Waterman fountain pens. When I’m doing my cards, I sometimes set the pen down and walk away for a while and for some reason mine clogs more with the converter and bottled ink than the pre-filled ones. I can get what I want easily online but ------- I was hoping one of the local shops could bail me out.

The Cleve-land sortation center for Da Jungle launched early so we had a pretty damn easy day of it. (We used to do all that stuff at our branch) That is subject to change. I hope to visit them some day and see if they took my suggestion and made Howard the Duck their symbol.
