Let's make a Sixth tape - A list MMP

It’s not Canada Day, Fourth of July, or Taco Truck Thursday, but on this date:
1535: Sir Thomas More is executed for treason against King Henry VIII of England.
1630: Thirty Years’ War: Four thousand Swedish troops under Gustavus Adolphus land in Pomerania, Germany.(in search of small fuzzy dogs?)
2003: The 70-metre Yevpatoria Planetary Radar sends a METI message (Cosmic Call 2) to five stars: Hip 4872, HD 245409, Hip 55 Cancri (HD 75732), HD 10307 and 47 Ursae Majoris (HD 95128). The messages will arrive to these stars in 2036, 2040, 2044, and 2049, respectively.(Dear aliens, swipe left)

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work(the Box Crusher 9000 ain’t gonna run itself!)

Oh, man. I finally found the MMP early-ish on a Monday morning.
My life has been cooking along at a slow trot.
My refugees are still here. No decisions yet on the lil’wrekkers University.
DIL and Mid-daughter have tentatively decided to home school this coming school term.
It’s almost miraculous how well/ healthy the kids have been. The oldest grandson has had a terrible asthma his whole life and he’s had exactly one attack since we’ve locked down. The others have had a few allergic type symptoms. No fevers or coughs. One berry induced bellyache.
Of course this means they’re probably losing a developed herd immunity.

Mr.Wrekker has taken a job. It’s a plant start-up in Georgia. That man cannot stay retired. This is a temporary consultant thing. He’ll be gone 3 months. I’m worried. That old man does NOT need to get COVID after all these weeks of lockdown.

My health has steadily improved. I’m walking full out every day. I feel good.

Y’all have a good week. Stay safe and healthy.

Morning, mumpers! It’s sunny over here today, with grey patches in the sky but warm enough to have the windows open.

Not quite sure what today will bring, we still have student queries to sort out from end-of-session, every time we fix one thing, something else comes along that we didn’t know about.

Today in 1942, Anne Frank’s family first took refuge from the Nazis, in 1946 G W Bush was born, and in 1976 women were inducted into the US Naval Academy for the first time. Thus sayeth t’intertoobz.

I’m glad your health is better.

I went to bed at 8 last night–just zonked out for no good reason. Today I hope to do a grocery pick-up, dehydrate more tomatoes, spend an hour or so moving bark mulch from the driveway to the garden now that the fence has been re-stained, and continue to sort the books and boxes from my office that are piled up in the living room. While listening to a book–maybe continuing with Antifragile.

Oh, and it’s 50 Cent’s birthday.

1687 - Newton publishes ‘Principia’

1885 - 1st inoculation (for rabies) of a human being by Louis Pasteur

And in sports: 1920 - Yanks score team record 14 runs in 1 inning vs Senators

I crashed pretty early and slept fairly well, so I was up at 5:30. Before I had a chance to tend to the critters, Roxy came toddling out of her room and instead of crawling into bed with her parents, she came to the kitchen. So she’s eating/playing with her Kix.

Beck - I sorta deal with something similar with FCD - but at least his work is 100’ from our back door instead of in the plague-ridden south. I hope MrW wears a mask!

As soon as daughter gets up, I’ll shower, dress, and take the walk that I missed yesterday. FCD starts his PT today, so yay for that. There’s a chance of rain but not till later. After my walk, I think I’ll hit Food Lion for a few things. Beyond that, nothing much on my agenda.

Happy Moanday!!

@Beckdawrek

This is great news. Even we lurkers have been worried about you

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 73 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of ONLY 82 (BRRR!} with rain, which I do believe is happenin’ as I post. The big item on today’s agenda is spiffin’ da cave. Sup shall be a slow roasted poke tenderloin with side matter TBD.

Becks glad to see you back.

1483- Richard III is crowned King of England.
1957- John Lennon and Paul McCartney meet for the first time.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Moanday Y’a’ll!

Caffienating. Not entirely up yet.

Today would have been Nancy Reagan and Merv Griffin’s birthday.

I’ve got not one, but TWO tiny blisters upon my right foot.

assumes position of utter woe

It’s a Metamucil-in-my-coffee kind of day.

Gonna go to the store shortly - if someone there isn’t wearing a mask, they run the risk of getting the full effects of the coffee-mucil (which may cause them to stay away from me.)

Back from my walk - I did 2 miles in about 40 minutes, so we’re looking at walking 3MPH! Not bad, considering I’m not particularly in shape. One nice thing about this neighborhood - it’s not completely flat - there are a number of slopes, so I get alternating workouts and rests.

But boy-howdy is it humid out there!!!

As soon as I cool down, I’ll ride John Deere around the back yard, then head to Food Lion.

Morning all. Nothing to add to the record for this date, except I am exactly 3,507 weeks old as of today. Feel most of them right now.

Need to buy a 5’ x 7’ area rug today and that’s about the extent of my planned activities. Unpacked the trimmer/edger last night and need to assemble/charge it before I use it. 77F Already heading for 87F, with afternoon rain in the forecast for most of the week.

Becks, glad you found us and hope the family news stays good.

suzie, sorting books is fun, but the problem I have is that I always find one that “hey, I haven’t read that for awhile” and pretty soon sorting becomes reading…

FCM, enjoy the walks. I’m thinking about it, until I get tired of thinking and lay down…but I really should start doing more…

MG, got get’em, tiger!

OK, need to finish waking up. All y’all have a good Moanday.

Happy Moonday!

It was nice at the park this morning, although only two of us showed up.
The sun is shining and it’s supposed to get up to 93.

Today is - The Day that the Clowns Cried and The Meeting Under the Oaks.

Nothing much planned for today, but there is always lots to do even if nothing has been planned.

For some odd reason, it seems that the “Rah” from Swampy has been missing. Today, after looking at the thread about TubaDiva, I find it comforting to see it again. Whatever else is going on, the rumbly tummy is going to get fed.

Nothing special here, except, because it is the first day of summer school holiday, it’s rather chilly out there. After almost a year of discussion, they broke ground on the new playhouse for the kids this morning. So we had lawnmowers and excavators, oh my!

Today’s the first day that masks are required on public transportation here in Switzerland. I was already wearing a mask, also for grocery shopping. Doesn’t take much skin off my nose, and it might help us get out of this mess.

In comparison to the rest of you, I’m about ready for the evening meal and settling down for the evening.

Afternoon all! Walked into town to go to the post office and pharmacy, but I think that’s the excitement limit for the day. Today seems to have gone unnecessarily fast, so there’s not been much chance for thrills.

I need to find out how to switch my prescriptions to the pharmacy I went to today; unlike the big one on the high street, they were all wearing masks (which are still extremely rare here, despite increasingly being officially required), plus they actually appear to know how to use their computer system, unlike the big one. This means phoning the doc, which I may attempt tomorrow.

Dinner (we’re not all in the 'Murricas) shall be cauliflower curry, which is bubbling away happily at the moment, accompanying rice to go on shortly. At some point in the recent past, making dinner suddenly became simpler than getting a takeaway… It’s still not better than the Indian takeaway down the road (for all they’re a bit non-spicy for me), but messing about ordering and collecting (it’s so close I’d feel daft paying for delivery) is such a hassle. Cooking is a fair bit cheaper too.

I have informed the family that dinner is clean-out-the-fridge-dammit!! We’ve got 3 different containers of leftover pork - some loin chops, some pulled poke, and some ribs. Plus a variety of veggies, and I’m OK with making up some fresh veggies. But the poke will be ingested, or else! :stuck_out_tongue:

We found out the house we were interested in has been sold, but there are 2 more very close to each other in a nice neighborhood - daughter is arranging to see them. So fingers crossed…

My mission for today: take all my cans and bottles to the redemption center.

Why am I posting this? Because I don’t really feel like doing it but I feel if I say it publicly, I’ll feel obligated to follow through.

I find it’s hard to find threads I like…UNLESS… I click on my own avatar. ‘Doh!’
Took me 2 weeks to figure that out.
Sometimes ignorance just refuses to be fought!

I straightened out my garden.
After the storm last night it was a mess.
I don’t like to say this, but my grandsons are fat. 4yo and 9yo. They eat constantly. I would never say this to their face, but I’m worried about it. Mid-daughter doesn’t seem to notice how much they eat.
I cook breakfast for Mr. W about 6am. They’ve been getting up as soon as the smell food being cooked. They eat with Pop-pop and watch TV til Mom gets up. And then have a second breakfast.
They graze all day. Anything they can get.
I’m fixin’ to make them walk with me everyday.
We’ll see how that goes.

b.

It was horrible here on the 4th. Pieces of fireworks are still rolling/blowing off my roof - it was raining little shards of paper and cardboard and the fire trucks were busy.

Been waiting impatiently for the MRI people to review instructions as my main doc wants a scan of my pituitary because it’s no longer calling the shots with my thyroid and other things in me. Most people can just walk right in and get an MRI, but my implanted electronics complicate things. Ugh…

Hey, I’ve got the “on today’s date” to beat them all. On this day in, well, the Dark Ages, my brother was born AND on this date in 1982, my son was born! I’ll be talking to both of them today. My sisters and I have a surprise for our brother, who’s having a landmark birthday: he thinks I alone will call him tonight, but actually, all 3 of us will be on the line, each from our own states. I’ll call my son later and tell him yet again how blessed I am to have him for my firstborn.

I said no more whining about my eye, but because I made such a thing of it last week, thought I’d let you know I have an appointment tomorrow at 8 a.m., and I found a ride–slightly risky, but no choice, really.

Becks, so glad to see you here. Don’t be such a stranger! Even happier to learn you’re doing so well. I hope Mr. Wrekker comes through COVID-free. Surely everyone on the job will be masked up? Will he quarantine when he gets back–from you, I mean? You getting COVID would be even more dangerous than him getting it.

Moooom, fingers will be crossed for a suitable house. I guess you can’t use the “starving children in China” bit like our moms did. Inevitable reply: “Send 'em mine, then.”

shoe, are the blisters from all that walking on the job? Hope they heal OK. Cushion the bejeebers out of them.

MG, that’s a novel way to deal with the virus.

I shall think of Sir Thomas More today. My father, an attorney and a judge, was a great admirer.
