No fusion, nothing trendy, none of this 3 beans and a sprig of parsley stuff. Our cafe will have only the best listing of the food we want when we want to chill, not worry about calories or fat or fiber, and just enjoy eating.
Mac-n-cheese - that’s the first thing that comes to mind when I think comfort food. Optional spoonful of peas mixed in when you think a veggie is necessary. Both box mix and homemade versions will be available.
Second is Campbell’s chicken noodle soup with lots of Keebler Club crackers crushed in to make a thick, pasty bowl of comfort. Added bonus - it’s chicken soup, so it’s good for what ails ya!
I have to say, I find it interesting that no one has posted anything from the dessert column - no cakes or pies or cookies or Twinkies… do those not comfort us?
Hmmm. Not as much as an actual meal, truth be told. But also, I’m a pastry snob. I like fancy expensive pastries. And i love home made cookies, cakes, and pies. But i probably don’t want to eat the desserts at this comfort Cafe.
My bacon wrapped individual meatloaves. Baked potato (in the oven, thank you) with crispy skin, loads of butter, and sour cream. Canned green beans with butter and pepper. Sea Pak fried clam strips. Sausage pizza. Potato chips. Chocolate chip cookies, Pepperidge Farm Farmhouse. Bacon and over easy eggs fried in the bacon grease, with a side of really dark toast and lots of butter. I’m seeing a trend. My comfort food is butter. And to be honest, dessert is Diet Dr Pepper and a few cigarettes. I’ve been almost 2 years smober though.
