Let's play a role-playing game

If possible, I will go after the one that is on Koldanar. If not I will turn to the one facing Santo (since we seem to be right next to each other) In either case, attack and then block.

Attack and block, baby!

:smiley:

NAF, I think it takes you longer to heal than the battle is. Perhaps you should try for some kind of attack spell?

Do I have attack rituals at my disposal? If it will take longer to heal Koldanar than the battle itself I will move to upping my own END instead and then join in the fight on the next turn with a counter attack instead of a block. I will heal Koldanar as soon as possible though.

This might work well in a computer game, but surely the excitement of roleplaying combat dissipates if you have to keep track of damage to your weapon, armour and shield - as well as everyone stating the toughness of whatever is being used.

Is Koldanar dying?
If so I will go to full offence - i.e. attack and counter-attack.

I assume that it is something that appeals to some player types, and not others. :slight_smile:

HM does have a system for tracking the health of both weapons and armor. Some think that weapons break too easily and opt for a more complex system. Personally, I can’t be arsed with the paperwork. When a weapon breaks, it breaks.

NAF, your END just jumped from 9 to 15. You are strong like moose.

Gargun6 regains consciousness – then goes immediately into shock.

Koldanar regains consciousness – and stays conscious. But that’s a nasty wound. Combat could be risky right now.

Current engagements:

Gargun1: Scrambling to find a weapon
Gargun2: Passed out
Gargun3: -->Santo
Gargun4: -->glee
Gargun5: -->Antinor
Gargun6: In shock

Gargun1 manages to find a mang and can weild it next round.

Gargun3 attacks Santo. Or tries to. He swings so hard that he falls over. He’s prone, and easy to hit.

Gargun4 attacks glee, who blocks (since Koldanar is clearly not dying.) glee gets hit on the skull. That’s a serious (IL2) cut. Ouch.

Gargun5 attacks Antinor. Both fight like pros. Antinor blocks the blow impressively. He is unharmed, but his shield is shattered into tiny bits.

Ok, I am not engaged at all right? On my next turn engage the nearest Gargun and attack(the one one Glee would be my choice if I am close enough, but any of them will do). Then back off again and start working on healing.

OK.

You engage glee’s foe. Nice little stab to its right thigh. IL2 damage.

glee takes a stab at the same critter, and gets it in the gut. Another IL2, for a total of 4. Too much. It drops.

Santo kicks at the prone Gargun. Not much damage, but he stays prone for another round.

Antinor stabs at the one that broke his shield. It grabs its crotch, sings a little soprano aria, and falls over.

The one that just picked up a weapon starts to run away. The prone one tries to crawl away really fast.

Are you going to go after them, or let them get away?

They are probably going for reenforcements, we really can’t let that happen. I need to stay and heal glee and Koldanar.

Rugger you want to shoot at the runner? Antinor can probably take care of the one on the ground.

Ok, now that I’m back to consciousness, can I throw my dagger and actually hit the fleeing one? Or is he too far / I’m too disabled to have a reasonable chance (-15%, right?)

I agree with trying to stop the runner.

Just a question, can any of us speak the language they speak? If we stopped the one crawling (or any that are still alive), would we have a chance of gaining some information from tieing them up and questioning them?

I’d like to know before I go about snuffing out the life of the crawling one.

I also agree with stopping the runner, but I may be too injured to risk another blow.
If someone does pursue, they shouldn’t go too far. The risk of getting lost or meeting reinforcements is too high.

Tdn, what does IL2 mean? (Is it Injury Level 2?) Since both Koldanar and the Gargun go down with IL3, how near dropping am I?

Can we hide somewhere until NAF is able to heal us?

Koldanar, you can certainly try throwing your dagger. The worst that can happen is that it picks it up and runs away with it. Or you hit a rock and damage the blade.

None of you speak their language. Not without some sort of religious ritual, anyway.

Like Tongues. Hey NAF, guess what you just remembered? :wink:

glee, IL2 does indeed mean injury level 2. Whenever you get an injury, all ILs are added up (including previous ones from the same combat, or even unhealed wounds from past combat), and that many d6’s are rolled. If the total number exceeds your END, you go into shock. So if you got one more injury, even an IL1, that would be 3d6 rolled against your END of 15. Yes, that could have been bad for you.

Speaking of which, the Gargun that you defeated are not dead, just in shock. They could awaken at any time.

ETA: There are plenty of places to hide. This is pretty rough terrain.

My character RULES!

Ok, so healing first. Possibly hiding and then healing. Personally I would rather just get on with the healing since it takes a while. How many rounds does the healing take? Also, how many rounds until the Gargun wake up/die from shock?

Well, allright then. I’d like to try and bandage my leg, and stop the bleeding (unless someone else here can do first aid better?). NAF, prioritize your healing as you see fit; I’m still alive!

Awesome. I’ll chase down the runner, but not so far as to be out of sight of our team.

Someone should go about taking out all but one of the others. As I recall, we have a decent length of rope, we should tie up one of them for questioning under the influence of a tongues ritual. (after we get as healed as we can of course)

Antinor, you can’t outrun it. (You are the slowest one in the group, remember.) The crawling one gets up to run away, and you are able to swing at it, though.

Blocked. :rolleyes:

Meh, forgot about that.
