Hit em again!
Both of them are getting away. In 10 seconds they will be 90 feet away. Longer legs than Antinor’s might help. And Santo has 3 arrows left.
Are you calling me short?
SONOFA… I am trying to heal here!
I have a spear right? I am going to throw it at the bugger nearest to me and then if I HAVE to I will chase it down myslef.
Hopefully Rugger will shoot the other one, if not we are kind of screwed.
Fire all three arrows as accurately as possible
I’ll KO the ones in shock.
If there’s enough rope, and I’m not in danger, I’ll tie one up.
But if there’s any sign of resistance or reinforcements, they’ll all get clobbered.
Then I’ll look for a place to hide, where we can all heal up.
Guys, I’m sorry I’m not chasing Gargun, but my injuries are serious.
Tdn, you posted:
Each weapon has a collection of stats. One is A/D, which is bonuses for attack and defense. A shield has an A/D of 5/20, which means that you get a +5 when you attack with it, and a +20 when you defend with it. A spear is, I believe, 25/10.
Do these numbers add on to my 112 in each of Spear and Shield?
Am I therefore 112+25=137 to attack with a Spear, and 112 + 20=132 to block with a Shield?
And can I do this in combat?
You’re not short - but your legs are vertically challenged!
NAF’s spear: Blow directly to the creature’s back. 3 ILs. It’s down.
Santo’s first arrow: Hit it in the left forearm. Nice shot but didn’t take it out. 3 ILs
Next arrow, at longer range: Not such a nice shot. You did hit a bird nehind you, though.
Last arrow, long range: Left hip. 3 more ILs. That did the trick.
And that, gentlemen, is how missile combat is done. Good job.
Yes. Minus penalties for encumbrance, fatigue, and injury. It’s not uncommon for heavy infantry or cavalry to wear 70-80 pounds of armor, incurring a penalty of 40 or 50.
So you hog-tie one of the goblins. Kill the rest, or just konk them on the heads?
Santo, do you want to see if you can recover any arrows? Some of them went pretty far. You only have one left.
As far as tending to wounds, I recommend the following, in this order:
-
Get somewhere safe.
-
Perform first aid. All of you (except Koldanar) have some small skill in it. A needle and thread would be great, but you don’t have any. Clean cloth, ditto. Clean water? You’re far from a water source, and it doesn’t look like rain is coming soon. You know that in a pinch, strong drink can be used in lieu of water. Some claim that it works even better on open wounds. No one is really sure why, but it seems to produce less pus and redness. You still have all of that firewater given to you by Koldanar’s father. And when imbibed, it makes a terrific painkiller.
-
Pray. Once for each wound. Prayer takes 8 minutes.
-
Rest, get something to eat.
If possible, I’d like to look for my arrows if it is safe to do so. Or at least try to find the ones that are in safe range.
Can we eat the bird I hit?
Can the rest of us eat and rest while NAF is praying for us after first aid?
You find two.
Sure. The wren is neither tasty nor filling.
Yes.
Food is dwindling. You have supper tonight, breakfast and lunch tomorrow. It’s probably another two days full march until Naniom Bridge.
Being hungry for a day is miserable, but you’ll live. Being thirsty is another matter.

You’ll get a -10 penalty for not having the proper supplies, but a +50 bonus for this being a routine procedure.
Santo’s bow skill has increased from 48 to 51.
NAF’s throwing skill has increased from 48 to 49.
glee’s spear skill has increased from 75 to 76.
Antinor’s dagger skill has increased from 60 to 61.
Koldanar’s awareness skill has increased from 39 to 40.
When I am done with the healing, and we have at least one of the baddies hogtied, I would like to perform the language ritual so we can ask the captive some questions.
Let’s make sure we have down what we want to know beforehand. And we should be cautious with what we say while the ritual is active.
Um, gives a sheepish look would one of you mind imparting some basic first aid knowledge to me? I can’t believe this hasn’t come up before for me.
And keep that filthy thing away from me. I’m not going to talk to a beast like that.
Glee and Antinor are probably the best people to explain that sort of thing to you. I am sure they won’t mind helping you learn a bit. And if you are interested I am willing to share what I remember about my faith and rituals.
It is a little hard to believe, isn’t it? The Taelda people are renowned for their healing abilities. While that would normally be thought of as women’s (or shaman’s) work, typically it’s only men that go out on hunts and Gargun raids. You’d think that they’d at least know the rudiments of dressing a wound.

I thought my spear skill was 112?
