I have created a new world and a new embark. The world is “The Land of Legends”. The embark is a 4X4 oceanside, with the land split between a Terryfying (Evil/Savage) Temperate Woodland region called ‘The Slitted Field,’ and a Joyous Wilds (Good/Savage) Temperate Shrubland region called ‘The Heavenly Hill’, and the ocean is Untamed Wilds (Neutral/Savage). There is some metal underground, but not much. There is an aquifer, but there are spots where it can be bypassed. The site has access to humans, elves, goblins, and dwarves (kobolds all starve to death early in world history in 31.21).
The outpost is Vodsazir, ‘Soundbridges’. I have named the leader after myself, and all the others have their profession and ‘refugee’ as custom profession titles so we can keep track of the original seven who are all survivors of Joinglazed. I’ll start playing this weekend and update the game thread.
For players, looks like we have Silophant, Babale, Dinaroozie, Autolycus, and FlyingRat. Anyone care about play order?
Woot! Joinglazed lives on in spirit! I very much enjoyed your post(s), AndrewL. Nice work getting the desalination up and running - quite an impressive amount of construction you’ve gotten done in your time. I also liked the bit where the harpy got punched so hard that her head caved in.
Do you think we should interpret ‘Soundbridges’ as ‘sound’ as in ‘noise’, or ‘sound’ as opposed to ‘unsound’?
My inclination is to avoid the pot bug. It seems pretty clearly unintended and broken, and it sidesteps a challenge that isn’t just trivial and annoying (in my opinion).
Okay, also the stockpiles are broken, things wont be put in barrels unless a new plot is made and then only one barrel goes in it seems, thats mostly why i use pots in my forts. Finishing up year now and gonna write it up.
From what I can tell, it looks like you were fighting alongside Silophant on the stairs, trying to buy time for the masons to seal the passage. Legends mode lists you has having dies after colliding with an obstacle, which basically means you were knocked off the stairs and fell to your death.
I think it’s ‘sound’ as in noise. The language files say that the prefix ‘vod’ can be translated as the noun ‘sound/sounds’ or as the verb ‘sound/sounds/sounded/sounded/sounding’, but not as an adjective.
Ah that explains it, well now we have barrels, and other goodies that i shall reveal. Just finished and now gonna start writing what happened and pick a select few screen shots.
This is a considerably more well thought-out answer than I was expecting to my question.
Damn, Canius, you sure rocked through your year there. I’m excited to learn about these ‘other goodies’. Until further notice I am assuming it’s going to be something along the lines of an artifact sock made out of goat bone that menaces with spikes of pig tail.
Yeah ill post asap. I have terrible internet where i live so its a pain to upload. I have everything already written out so i just need finish uploading.
Good job all! It seems like things are going really well. May we continue to prosper and avenge our loss to the hands of those demon bastards.
I have a small, greedy request. When (or if hehe), we are asked if we desire to be elevated to a barony, may my dwarf be chosen? I’d like to think Autolycus the Second, a cousin from the homeland, has heard of his beloved uncle’s passing and decided to take up the mantle of leadership.
If whoever’s turn it is at the time wants to do otherwise, that’s cool too. It’s just a thought.
I have no objection to Autolycus being the Baron again. Depending on when the offer comes, it may make more sense to pick a Baron (preferably one who likes buckets) and then have Autolycus take that dwarf as his when it’s his term.
I also strongly suggest that we move to the next release (31.22) as soon as it’s available. It looks like Toady is fixing a huge number of long-running bugs, including most of the problems with the hospital.
This will make a lot more sense once my turn passes, but for now, I ask that, once my turn passes, my character be declared Mountain Lord, Supreme Leader, or some other, equally impressive title (that will mean nothing). Again, this will make sense after my turn.
