Hey Cecil Adams, you ever notice how some people just crave approval? And really get off when they finally get it? Wierd huh?
[sub]not gonna work, is it? sigh[/sub]
Hola, Aloha, Talofa, Greetings and Salutations Fiver. You, my fellow poster, have spawned some truely enjoyable threads. So … you lika the juice eh? The juice, it is good eh? I get you some juice.
Why, thank you very much! I apologise for the fact that my name is too long; it doesn’t screw up the messages on my computer. I like the ASCII fish in your sig.
A big howdy to Enderw24. Your posts always make me giggle…the ones that are supposed to, at least. You are one clever fellow.
Also, hello to TheNewbie and BillyRubin, who are both very sweet guys! Get to know them–they are both incredibly nice.
Astroboy, you rock my world. You never cease to amuse and amaze me. I still have the image of Astrogirl, walking home with the bus driver’s flip flops, in my mind. And the phrase “Candy store is closed” is now a permanent addition to my vocabulary. Something about the way you write, the things you describe, the world you live in - it gives me intense pleasure. Thank you!
Hey handy! Your name has always caught my eye as I have a personal attachment to it ITRW. It is an honour to meet the Doper with the highest post count.
HerMajestyLorna, it’s a pleasure. I see from your profile that you like to kickbox. That is very cool. What part of Virginia do you live in? I lived in Kentucky for about 5 years.
Things are going well for myself these days. During early September I had a very rough time. Between my apartment getting locked up by the fire department, running from giant clouds of dust as those two beautiful buildings fell, and then the several weeks of no work that followed, I was starting to feel a little picked on by Fate.
But now I’ve returned to work, I had about 9 GREAT gigs (dj) last month, and more to come this month. I have just started a stage sketchprov show which I and a friend created, are producing, and are also directing. We just held auditions Saturday, and we found some really cool people. Callbacks are tonight. I have not worn the directors hat very many times, so I am enjoying it quite a bit.
I have seen a few great concerts lately (Long Beach Dub All Stars, Dj Logic, The Uplifters), and that does my soul good. I’m upset about the Yankee’s losing, but we played Frank Sinatra’s “New York, NY” right after in the sports bar I was in, and people cheered anyway and some even shed a tear.
This place that I live has seen tough times lately and it seems that everyone who lives here is deeply affected and will be for ever. We share a deep love of this place we call home, and we have all been wounded with the city. In the process of healing, I have found the average caliber of the people in this city to be exceptional. It gives me goosebumps to think about how amazing these people are. It makes me proud to be a New Yorker, an American, and a Human.
dalovin’dj, thanks for the great response. I live in central Virginia, not too close to Kentucky. I’ve actually never even been there.
I’m glad everything is going well for you now. It sure sounds like (from your resonse and everything else) it was really, really tough in the city in Septemeber. I’m happy to see you came through it okay though.
I hope callbacks go well. I bet it’s a bunch of fun to be doing that!
Me? Well, nothing at all is really going on. I’m a junior in high school, so my days are all pretty much the same. School, school, school. But this weekend is I have four days off, so I am ultra-relaxed. Very little homework, very much time. So it’s all good.
I, too, have been constantly amazed by how everyone has reacted to these events. Despite being quite far, physically, from where all of this happened, it seems like the distance is so small now. I am in awe of how everyone so directly affected by the elventh has banded together.
I’m well. (Well, as well as I can be while at work. ::sigh:: )
It’s great to meet people that have similar interests. (Mind you, I haven’t met someone that doesn’t like the Simpsons yet.)
Imagine my surprise when I found out Kwyjibo was available as a user name. I though, for sure, it would have been taken.
Anyhoo, I’m just eating lunch and have just downloaded the new Star Wars trailer so I’m gonna watch that until it gets burnt into my monitor. (Damn…I’m geeking myself out again. :D)
Actually, Supergirlfriend doesn’t. I’ve tried more than a few times to convert her. Maybe she hates it because EvilHusband loves it. I don’t know. But she’s not a fan.
I once opened a thread just because I saw your name in the Last Post column (first time I had seen it). Didn’t post, but just had to open for such a cool name.
Egyptian god of the underworld, right? I mention you every few weeks, when I give my tours of Atlanta’s Fabulous Fox Theatre. It has many rooms decorated in an ancient Egyptian motif, and one, the Egyptian Ballroom, has the “wings of Osiris” displayed on the knee-wall of the balcony.
I do so like-a the juice.
TubaDiva, how’s every little thing? I think your administration of this board is subtle and wise. I’ve always been very curious about you, since we live in the same city yet have never met.
Kwyjiwife never hated it, but she never watched it much either. Neither did I really. I would watch it if it was on, but I never went out of my way to see it. (I don’t watch much TV anyway, so me making time to watch any show would have been a miracle.)
Then I made the mistake of putting a TV in the bedroom a few years ago. (Only to watch movies of course. ) Then, “Oh look! The Simpsons are on a 9 AND 11!”. That was it. Now I watch it religiously.
Why, just the other day, ::sniff:: Kwyjiwife came home with Season 1 on DVD. :: What a gal!
So now we both sit and watch it when it comes on at night.
I didn’t have to twist her arm too much, but it took some time before she would come to get me if it happened to be on.
