There we go. Looks like we got our group.

Anyone know how to update the Thread Title?

Does Anyone have any questions?

Just to make timing right, I will wait til 11:59:59 pm Sunday Night before I PM you your card hands.

The folded hand must be sent to me with 24 hours from that time.

11:59:59 pm Monday, I will post the flop.

Rinse Leather Repeat.

I think you have to ask a mod.

Sweet! I can’t wait to lose terribly in my first SDMB game!

If you need a fifth, count me in. I am pretty good at getting to the bottom of a fifth!

I wanna play the next game! ::scrutizes this thread intently::

Hey notfrommensa, Dolores Reborn:

It’s nothing personal. If we can iron out ways to get more than four players, I would be more than happy to.

However, the math of the game, is such, that it takes nearly the entire deck to play a 4 player game.

TWO QUESTIONS:

Do we want to have a point or chips system? If so, how, exactly can we work betting? I mean, it’s not like someone can fold out of the game entirely.

Should I disclose (reveal) the Burn cards? ** As I have pre dealt (and since put the deck back up) the hands, I only have a few of the cards burned identified.

If we eliminate the First folding round… I.E. see the flop first,

we COULD get a 5th player in.

Instead of 4 x 5 it would be 5 x 4. If you follow me.

What do you all think?

Could we do math with the burn cards for a sixth?

Come to think of it, Are burn cards needed in this game, anyway?

Can I play?

Right now I think there is no betting. It’s just a competition to see who can choose which cards to keep.

Chips or points have no actual value anyways, as we can’t redeem them for goods or services.

I’m content to have the game start simply and get more complex as it’s run more.

As for more players… why not run two groups simultaneously but independantly of each other?

Two decks, two groups.

I agree here too. In poker, the strategy is in the betting as your hand never changes. With so many decisions to make and strategy to implement, I don’t think any betting is needed. It just adds an unnecessary complication.

No problem: For some reason I thought you wanted five players. It must be that I read this after I got to the bottom of the fifth.

This assumes betting could fit into the Fold Em mechanic as is, and I frankly never saw how to fit it in my self.

As it stands, there’s no interaction between players.
(Each player can probably pick the first couple of hands to fold easily, then you just look at the common cards to see what to keep.)

I think it’s well worth having some discarded hands revealed - it adds to the skill, both in deciding what to reveal and what you can learn from it.

Right.

I wondered if commentary between players couldn’t exist somehow.

I like the idea of revealing a card or two.

**** I looked back at my spreadsheet, I have all the cards accounted for, so I can tell you what was burned when. **

Damn man, that’s a really good point I hadn’t thought of.

I still have no suggestions on how/which cards to reveal, if at all.

I could reveal the burnned cards.

To be clear:

IN A FUTURE GAME

What do you guys think of literally not playing with a full deck? That is, I take out a full rank of cards, or perhaps the 2-5 of a random suit.

Would it be possible to add more cards?
