What if a given rank when folded, reveals both cards in that folded hand?
I can’t believe the number of variants I am thinking of now.

I am now PMming Starting Hand(s).
Will get back to you when I have completed the “deal”.
The Deal has been completed.
**
You have until 11:59:59 pm Monday Night to fold your first hand.**
Did we decide one way or the other, on if I was revealing, publicly, burned cards?
I’m still going with no.
I’ll tell you what Meeko, I have no doubt this game is authentic. These hands are just as crappy as I get playing for real.
Do we fold via PM or via this thread? That could add some strategy. Knowing what other people fold gives some idea of the strength of their hand. Then again you’d end up knowing one HELL of a lot of cards by the end of the game.
I say go for it. It does add a new and upon thought, much needed element to the game to keep it exciting/fresh.
**Executive Decision :
We are going to play this hand / round straight and legit. We can discuss ideas for FUTURE games.
Fold all hands by PM**
FYI:
This game is not my original idea.
A lot of bars in Atlanta hire Poker Tournament / Bar Trivia companies. Free poker tournaments for Restaurant gift certificates. You can supplement your stack of chips by buying drinks at the bar, or entrees in the restaurant. The restaurant in turn then hires the company for the tournaments. Usually weekly, varied times. We all would “round” to the various locations, most of know each other, at least by face. While it is free poker, I haven’t been rounding in a long time, because I don’t have the money to buy dinner while I am there. I personally just feel bad not helping out the restaurant hosting the tournaments.
Long story short, waiting for the games to start, often times Texas Fold em, and or a game called “Knock”, a cross between Poker and Gin Rummy, would start, just to pass time.
Knock is a great game, but I’m not about to moderate that fast a game.
In short, this game is not my idea, but, I think it has the right amount of “play” for a message board.
Are we all ready to see at least one card that is going to be in our final hand?
*Do the math on it, you have to use a card in the Flop in your final hand. (Thanks Holdem for Dummies!)

The Flop:
4C 5H 7S**
Sorry about getting this out late, I was taking the Political Compass Quiz.
:o Erm…actually you don’t necessarily have to play a card out of your hand. If the board reads As Ks Qh Jd Tc the nuts is on the board and everyone ties.
And I thought you said everyone has until 11:59:59 on Monday. Did everyone get their hands in early?
Everyone was in.
What time Zone?
I’m EST
At that point, you would be using at least 3 of the cards in flop.
OK. I get you now. My fold will be in momentarily.
I want into the enxt game.
On New Players:
If we get rid of the first hand, that is folded blindly, we can get a fifth.
If we get rid of the burn cards, we can get CLOSE to having a sixth. – Rules would have to govern how to over come the fact that someone only holds one card in his pocket. – Perhaps make that hand a virtual pair with the other card of the same color?
For seven, we can have each player act as dealer, that way, everyone gets to deal, and it sneaks one more in the back door.
What do we think?
What happened to just running two simultaneous, but separate games?
Also an option.
I’m sorry - I don’t think I can play the next game.
Too confusing! Maybe I’ll watch a while first.
Yes I would have liked to play, but don’t change the game especially for me. If the beta test works, you can count me in the next go around.
As I indicated earlier, I misread the OP as needing five players. That’s why I signed up.
It sounds like fun and it got me thinking on other variations and how I can apply it to my homegame.
Good luck. I’ll be lurking
Since you didn’t ask::
Another game, that I mentioned, goes by the name “Knock” or I think some people call it poker rummy.
Deal all players 5 cards.
Place the deck in the middle of the table, turn over the first card, and start a discard pile with it.
In turn, much like rummy, you can take the TOP discarded card, or, a card from the deck.
After you take that card, discard any card in your hand. Your turn ends, and the player to your left does the same.
The object of the game, is to get a poker hand that no one else can beat.
On your turn, if you have the hand you wish to use in the showdown, you call “Knock” and or, knock the table.
Each other player gets one additional turn after you knock.
When the play gets back to you again, everyone reveals their hand.
