Let's suggest zinger lines Harris could use in her campaign and debate

MAGOO is an old Hal Sparks thing: make America great over and over.

Thanks, I was wrong about that. My main point stands, however.

You can ask President Rubio how well canned responses work in debates. Don’t worry about zingers, just be natural. I remember Andy Griffith had a rule about his scripts- if it sounds like a joke, throw it out.

Yeah, that’s just more shitposting It’s not true at all. And it is generally expected that that the audience realizes it at this point.

This article/video is the best explainer I’ve seen on it.

The author describes shitposting as “a seemingly low-effort post that posits something ridiculous or confusing with relatively little explanation or context that would help the average reader understand whether it is ironic or not.” And she gets into the ethics of this versus spreading misinformation (which she previously condemned).

She cites this tactic as something that worked against Hillary Clinton in 2016. It exists to derail serious conversation. An example that people seemed okay with was the meaning of “Santorum.”

Heh, “Santorum”. I once correctly guessed that in a game of adult-themed charades.

I don’t specifically have a zinger, but the Harris team needs some good ones to deal with Trump’s generous “offer” to debate Harris, but only on Fox News, moderated by a couple of right-wing hacks, in front of an audience of MAGAts. So far Harris has only said she’s sticking to the commitment that Trump made to debate on ABC on September 10. He has no reason to back out except fear of debating Harris, and he knows that the Fox venue is ridiculous.

Harris needs some aggressive zingers that I’m not good at coming up with, but that basically say “We’re not playing this idiotic game. This is a presidential election and the American people deserve better than your usual conniving bullshit. I’m happy to debate you on any legitimate network – ABC, NBC, CBS, or CNN – take your pick. If you’re afraid to debate me, have the honesty to say so. I’ll go up to ABC on September 10 and answer moderators’ questions on my own.”

Not that “basically say”; Harris should just go with exactly what you posted. Beautiful!

One thing, though. Not CNN, since they’ve already hosted a debate. But insist that any debate must be on an over-the-air network. That pretty much leaves ABC, NBC, CBS, and PBS. No cable news networks, which would exclude Fox and its ilk.

Huh? How does that work? (Differentiating humour from jokes apart from obvious “knock knock”, “A blonde…”, “Three men are going skydiving”, etc.)

My guess is that it has to do with the presence of punch lines. Andy discussing the need to only let Barney have one bullet which he keeps securely in his pocket is humor.

A character being asked how his marriage is going and responding “Glenda and I have been married 20 years and I didn’t regret it a single day. That day was march 2nd 1952” Joke.
