If anyone remembers me at all… you will remember that I am a big dog lover. At the time, I had 4 wonderful canine nompanions. Alas… I lost my little male Papillon last Thanksgiving and am down to 3 now.
This is my 4 year old Gordon Setter girl, Kharma- Schujan’s Must Be Kharma JH (The JH stands for Junior Hunter, it means she has been tested and can still hunt like the breed was intended to do) She is my silly, hyperactive girl that always makes me laugh.
This is my little Papillon girl, Cricket- Robin’s The Sweetest Trouble. She has REALLY become my girl since losing my male, she is happy and cocky and rules the house!
(Cricket is taking notes…)
Last, but certainly not least is my baby boy, Nick- Stonemist Nick of Time. He is 3 years old and has his first passing score toward his JH and 9 points toward his show championship (they need 15 points to be a champion) He is the silliest, goofiest, most loving boy in the world, and is my pride and joy.
That last picture is my FAVORITE… he was watching a squirrel!
PapSett! - Welcome back! How’re things going? I still have my setter boy Paddy. Big old lap doggie. he had to have surgery on his leg this summer but he’s doing well. My malamute’s getting older and stiffer. My standard poodle still thinks she’s a puppy at 6 years old. I have a new doberman named Jake, and my old dobie Grace is doing okay. Getting older, too. I hate to see them age.
How good! Beautiful doggies, PapSett. I can’t tell you all how many times during The Great Lurkage I wished I could post pictures of the love of my life, Edwina the Four-Pound Wonder Doggie.
Here she is giving a fashion show-- I had nothing to do with this, BTW. But her adoring fans keep knitting her sweaters. My wife and her pal put each and every one on her, took pictures, and gave them disgusting gooey captions.
This is my pain-in-the-ass, Lilith. She’s a six-month-old Doberman. She was probably only about two months old in that picture, but she looks much the same, except bigger of course!
As a cat person, I had a lot of difficulties adjusting to her at first, but we’re doing a lot better now that she’s housebroken and responding to training. I especially like her when she’s tired and throws herself down on my lap with a big ol’ groan. When she’s tired, I can kiss her on the nose and pull on her ears and flop her lips around.
Here is my current owner, Kai. He’s a big sweetie, and completely runs the house except when he doesn’t want to, in which case it’s our turn.
Another, more recent pic of him after a full day of socializing and suckering food out of people.
He’s a sweetie, and very social, although a lot of people find him intimidating. He LOVES to say hi to other dogs, and to play with them, but unfortunately his enthusiasm gets away with him and he can be a bit…obnoxious at times.
He is, however, VERY well behaved, and has decided that he needs to have Gainful Employment, so he assigned himself tasks around the house. He now fetches the paper every delivery day, carries towels in from the pool and deposits them by the back door, and is the Guardian Of The Baby Bunnies that happened to be born in our yard.
I am doing very well now!! Went thru some rough times… if y’all remember, I was having a hard time finding a good job. I went thr a couple not-so-good jobs, but they kept me afloat, and now I am working at American General Finance Co. and making good money, and LOVE the job! I actually have extra cash to DO dog shows and other travel now! What a great feeling it is.
Losing my Papillon Jay was quite the blow… he had been diagnosed with an enlarged heart about 3 weeks earlier, but was on medication and seemed to be doing well. Then the day after Thanksgiving, he started having a little shortness of breath, so I took him in to the vet, and he had a respiratory infection; Doc put him on antibiotics and said that would clear it up in no time. I took him home, and less than an hour later he had a heart attack and was just… gone. I still miss him so very much.
I am loving all the pics of the pooches! We have some pretty puppies here on the Dope!
That last picture of Kharma totally cracked me up!!! She just looks so…I dunno, funny? lol
romansperson what breed are your dogs??
Here’s my Dolly, lounging in the last bit of spring snow. She is my baby, my best friend, and my constant source of amusement. She’s an absolutely beautiful princess dog that gets whatever she wants because she is just so darn CUTE. Looking at some of her babypictures just makes me want to get five more!
PapSett - I’m very please to hear you’re doing so well. I remember how badly things were going for you before you dropped out of sight, and I often worried about you (and the dogs). To hear you’re happy and doing well is great.
ZipperJJ - Dolly looks so proud on her little snow bank. Like she’s saving that one bit of snow from the sun.
I have two dogs. Got them for the kids. I loved my Golden Retriver as a kid myself. However, for the life of me, I can’t see any value in having dogs around anymore. I look forward to being dog free one day.
And this is my newest acquisition, Ernie. He’s the sweetest little thing. He’s a Bichon Frise. He’s two years old. we bought him from the neighbors at a garage sale. (He wasn’t for sale, though!) We fell in love with him, and they had too many kids and full time jobs and not enough time for him. Plus, Lucy and Blaze love him!
I love the pics of the dogs, especially the rescued ones. I have 2 Australian Shepherds that I rescued. I am a failed foster mom with Aussie Rescue. I say failed, because I forgot to give Max up when the time came!
I live on a small farm with 11 goats, 5 pigs and a dozen turkeys and chickens. When I bought the goats, I also ended up buying a Maremma Sheepdog called Sasha. She protects all the barn animals, including the cats.
edited because I’m better with animals then spelling!
Thanks to everyone for sharing their pictures. Y’all have some good looking animals!
This is our oldest boy Sherman.
He is a Llhasa Apso and will be 7 years old next week.
We got him at six months and he had been not treated well in his early upbringing.
He is a great watchdog and has a heart of gold.
Sherman always suffered from terrible separation anxiety
til his baby brother Boris came along.
Boris (nickname Bor-Bor) will be 2 years old in a couple of weeks. We got him at 10 weeks as a companion for Sherman, he has just been a joy.
Sherman was not too fond of the little guy to start with but they are the best of brothers now.
We’ve had greyhounds for a long time now - I really love the breed and they make lovely pets for the right person.
Just warn your dad that while greys do indeed love to hang out on the couch sometimes they don’t leave any room for you! Fortunately we’ve got two couches - we’ve learned.
We got her from one of those animal foster home deals. They rescued her from a shelter where she was one day from being put down due to lack of space. She has a tracking tattoo, and the actually found the previous owners, but they said “No thanks, we don’t want her back”. :(
She was a serious handfull when we first got her. Very sweet and friendly, but you could tell she’d had absolutely no discipline. She wasn’t deliberately being bad, she just didn’t have the first clue how she was supposed to behave. She’s much better now, though she still steals our socks. Just socks though, nothing else.
