That’s what I said.
This is the second time today I’ve seen you ask “What are you talking about” to someone who was obviously agreeing with you. Are you having issues where you can only see the quoted post, and not the reply disagreeing with it?

I won’t. Okay?
No. I used the term correctly. He did not in any way attack a “culture as a whole.” He directly argued that they were all bad people, who only preteneded to be good when you talked to them alone. He attacked all rural people, which does include my family and friends, same as it would if someone attacked all black people or all poor people.
You are also someone who pulls this shit. And it is why you are regularly treated like shit here, because bigotry is wrong, even if you are doing it on the left. I have actually been someone defending you as just being upset and not thinking clearly.
But you, MORON, just ended that. You attacked one of the few people who defended you. You defended the very shit I assumed you didn’t actually believe.
So, congrats. You just made another enemy on this board. And you didn’t have many people who liked you left. I will join in and attack you when you pull your brain dead pessimistic shit again.
I will tolerate a lot from those who are anti-Trump, but not this garbage. You can’t make up shit people didn’t say to defend obvious bigotry. Someone who attacks an entire group of people based on where they live is a bigot.
Good luck with even fewer people to defend your inanity. Asshole.
The implication would then be that my family and friends actually are bad people who only support white people. I hope that is not what you meant.
If it’s a joke, I’m sorry. I don’t see the humor right now after what asahi just pulled. Nothing pisses me off more than when someone I’ve defended shows their true colors, showing I was wrong to ever do so.
So, you won’t either, right? I mean if I can’t, you can’t, right?
So…
You are saying if someone is mean to me I should vote against my best interests in order to spite them?
Who is the “embodiment of the caricature” in this tale?
Stick my neck out? Defend? :dubious: Hardly. It’s called “close textual analysis.” Here. Try it yourself sometime.
This.
And I live in Tennessee, in Trump Country, & see The Ugly™ first-hand.
Oh well, too bad for me I guess.
Anyway, white rural America – not exclusively but particularly – needs to get over itself and stop cryin. Regardless of where they live, I think those who despise Trump and see him for the fuckstick that he is aren’t going to take my “insults” too seriously because they’re also tired of getting screwed by him and his ilk, and they understand the place where it comes from – and if they don’t, they should. Of course we’re not talking about every single person who lives in rural America, and I think most people get that. It’s a generalization, sloppy as it may be.
It’s not a secret who’s keeping Trump in power. People in rural white America and white America need to get some thicker fucking skin and get over their “reverse discrimination” and “victim” complex and see the “prejudice” as a byproduct of the hate that they’ve engendered by dishing it out for all these years.
Exactly, and nobody who hates Trump and MAGA is referring to you, and you presumably have the intelligence to figure that out. People who want to be victims will be victims and feel persecuted and find any fucking reason possible to keep voting for Trump even if it means denying the fact that he’s been recorded as saying that coronavirus is a Democrat hoax, even if it means denying the fact that he cut CDC pandemic preparedness funding, and even as they watch convoys of trucks haul off dead bodies the cemetery. Not everyone in rural white America is pathologically racist, bigoted, sadist, and anti-facts, but far too many are, and it is this culture, this demographic in particular that has the power to make everyone else feel miserable for no other reason than the fact that they’re feeling scared and miserable and not achieving their American dream, or because they are and they just don’t want others to achieve theirs. I’m not going to give these mother fuckers a pass and tread lightly. Fuck that, and fuck them, and fuck anyone who tries to capitalize on their own persecution and grievance complexes.
I am sure you are all correct that my attitude is counter productive.
In my defence, I shouldn’t watch Rachel Maddow and follow it up with the movie Downfall. It puts me in a bad place mentally.
However, I am a red stater by origin, I do know these people. The salt of the earth most of them, in many senses. But…
I am tired of being vilified by the folks back home because I actually believe in and want to live in an America that has a reasonably competent government that works for all the people.
I am severely pissed off that my federal taxes went up over 10 percent in a direct wealth transfer to the people who are telling me I’m an evil person who will go to hell for thinking and saying that maybe god doesn’t care about all that stuff as much as they do.
Rural America has a lot of problems. Most of these problems are related to the fact that it just plain costs more to provide a first world lifestyle to people living in a low population situation. Don’t get me started on the problems with my mother’s internet.
It gets to me that people who choose this lifestyle, like many of my relatives and high school connections, also want me to subsidize it.
I don’t see any real answer to the problem’s my mother’s community faces. It just plain costs more to live that way. My mother is actually facing this. If the current problems hadn’t made that unwise, she was considering moving into a community living situation. That’s on hold for the near term obviously.
I don’t know what to do about it. My skills in political action are not good. As many have said in this thread. I give money to causes I support, and they ask me to help organize. I actually agree with some posters up thread that any efforts I might make to persuade people to my point of view are likely to backfire, so I don’t.
OK, I’ve said my piece. I’ll go back to lurking now.
Do you have me mixed up with someone else? I’ve only said “what are you talking about” once.
If I’m having issues where I don’t see something, well, obviously I wouldn’t know.
In any event, looking back through the thread, it seems that what you and I are saying has a lot of overlap.
I’m at a loss trying to understand why we seem to be at loggerheads here.
When did that happen?
Seriously…point to the 10% federal tax hike you got. We can deal with where that “10%” actually went later.
I’ll be over here holding my breath.
The word is entirely accurate in this case. You’re talking about “these people,” and in fact wishing they’d get sick and die.

That’s beyond bigotry. Seriously. That’s heading down a very sick path.
How so?
Yeah, anyway, eat shit. I want people who engage in reckless numbskullery to suffer the consequences. For all of the talk about how I’m a “sociopath,” I’m sitting here in my apartment where I’ve been the past 4 weeks, trying to do my part as a citizen to keep others safe - because unlike these pieces of shit I referenced in that post, I actually believe that the world is bigger than just me.
Who’s the asshole? Who’s the sociopath? Someone who’s engaging in civic duty by staying home but posting a few unhealthy thoughts on a message board, or friendly down-home folk who go out and recklessly engage in their civil liberties by putting themselves, their families, and their communities in danger in the middle of a pandemic?
Yes, I hope they get infected! What the fuck is wrong with wanting people to suffer the consequences of their assholery? The sad part is that, unfortunately, they will probably take down others with them.
No, I was right and you’re wrong. The only way these fuckers can be reasoned with is to have them experience firsthand the consequences of their own foolishness. Moreover, if it were just foolishness, I might have sympathy. But it’s not just foolishness that motivates these people; it’s a desire to see people who aren’t like them feel some sort of discomfort. They actually relish the idea that they’re making other people feel uncomfortable. They’re bullies, and if there’s one thing I absofuckinglutely despise in this world, it’s people who try to use their perceived power to intimidate and bully others. They are the ones who need to be bullied, harassed, and intimidated.
You’re cool with expressing a desire that “I want COVID-19 to wreak havoc until enough of the right people get it?”
Do you think COVID-19 is a useful tool for culling the herd? Do you want the “right” people to get it?
You don’t think that’s a bit problematical?
I despise bullies just as much as you do. I’m just not nearly as comfortable as you with wishing miserable and sometimes fatal diseases on them.
I think our society seriously needs to be remade in a lot of ways. I don’t think, at all, that the best way to do that is by killing off the undesirables. Hey, I’m not Pol Pot.
Don’t be a daft prick.
You know who I mean by the “right” people (i.e. not you). You may be stupid, but as far as I can tell you’re not bigoted and reckless.
Where did ANY of that come from?
Where did I suggest ANYTHING like what you are on about?
Really…where?
