You know who you remind me of? Coach in the current season of Survivor. You have this mythic version of yourself that just isn’t shared by those around you, and whatever experiences you have actually had are dismissed because your accounts of them are embedded in a grandiosity that has destroyed your credibility.

So, to answer your question: yes, GQ, GD, CS – places where the topic is something other than your life and your mythos – should all be places where you can share your observations and knowledge to the benefit of all.

Actually, I think it would be a good idea for Lib to stay out of the Pit. A forum where one is accused of “making this all about you” in your own Pitting is one that needs to be approached in a certain spirit. And I think it is difficult for Lib to sustain that spirit.

I don’t think you were being jerked around, really. Liberal was providing some additional, on-topic (or at least as on-topic as you’ll see in any normal thread) information in a neutral tone. The personal tragedy was included, yes, but not in a way that tries to excuse, or, indeed, is in any way related to his crazy drama-queen Phelps antics.

Liberal’s not required argue with or apologize to Fenris, and he’s not required to substantively respond to anything Fenris says. Don’t simply assume his post is meant as an argument or apology. I suppose you could view his post, with its lack of substantive response, as a kind of passive-aggressive tweaking, as in “I read your words but they mean little to me, so I post to underline my lack of response” (not exactly unconvoluted, but neither is Liberal), but he’s most certainly not inserting the “personal tragedy” into the argument, because there is no argument.

Ordinarily, I would agree, but considering his history of doing so, I’m not inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt this time. Others have recently lost family members in the past few years – myself included – and aren’t constantly bringing it up in unrelated discussions.

FWIW, Liberal, I AM sorry for your loss. But I stand by what I said. You may not have been doing it consciously – but this is a long standing habit of yours’.

You also have a habit of treating people like shit, and then turning around and wondering why they aren’t your best friends, and begging to make amends. People don’t appreciate being jerked around like that. And if you’re going to dish it out, you better learn how it take it when it comes around back to you.

How about the fact that he demanded special treatment* from the DoMeBo mods and then, when he didn’t get enough special treatment, he turned on them like a rabid…um…ferret. After What_Exit’s (and the other mods there) above-and-beyond treatment, just look at his posts in this thread to see how he deals with his “friends”

Compare his comments in in this thread “one of the two mods was that great facilitator and peacemaker, What Exit?” and “See? That’s why {What Exit} being one of only two mods available for faction forming would never have worked. You’re the facilitator, not the faction maker. *He was constantly whining about a particular skin/theme thing, for example. Even after it turned out it was being used considerably less than any other (by like a 2:1 ratio to the next least used) he STILL whined that they weren’t fixing it fast enough for him.
