"Lie To Me" and "Human Target" Both Get Renewed For Next Season

We like both shows, Lie To Me and Human Target and am happy to report they have been picked up for another season.

The Hollywood Reporter article goes on to talk about a few other new series that might be interesting.

Good news.

Lie To Me just barely squeaked by with Shawn Ryan producing… He just may have salvaged it if it did a little writing for it, but he backs away entirely and Fox says “Can we have some more, please?” Brilliant.

The only thing this show has going for it is Tim Roth - it would be absolutely unwatchable without him. Even with him, the premise, formula, and (most of all) writing are really too weak to warrant another season.

Edit:

Sorry, this seems a bit of a thread-poop – I am genuinely surprised that it got picked up again. (A little disheartened, too - my wife likes it well enough that we’ll be watching it as long as they keep grinding them out.)

I watch both of them! Lie to Me kind of sucks but it’s entertaining enough to kill 40 minutes with sometimes.

Human Target, on the other hand, is such a fun show! There’s nothing like a action show that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

Hooray! I never watched Lie to Me (is that the Chris Roth show?), but I love Human Target! More proof that Hollywood doesn’t hate America!

Interesting fusion of names there, Munch, and it may be that the ones you mentioned are both from shows I really like these days. Tim Roth is the principal on Lie to Me and probably made his biggest splash as the “Ringo” character in Pulp Fiction. Chris Noth has a minor role (in terms of lines and face time) on the excellent CBS show The Good Wife. Noth was also the “Mr. Big” guy from Sex and the City.

Tim Noth would also be a good name.

Great to hear about Human Target!

So excited! My family was talking about both shows at dinner last night, because the rumor my mother had heard was that only one would get renewed and the other canceled. It makes me happy that her source was incorrect. Plus, any time Fox makes me happy it automatically is double-happiness, because they’ve disappointed me so much in the past.

(Not that I’m not used to it. I was about 6 the first time I can remember them canceling a show I love, The Adventures of Brisco County Jr.)

Yay! Love Human Target!

I have to disagree with you. Roth’s biggest splash was as Mr. Orange in Reservoir Dogs.

Well, I guess “biggest splash” is probably a personal thing and depends as much as anything on which role pops into your mind first when his name is mentioned. He’s had some excellent parts all over the map as far as “types” go. With 74 credits as far back as the early 80’s there’s bound to be one that stands out as his most noteworthy.

It may not settle any debates on the subject, but the IMDb ranking of his roles (based on the movie or show it was in instead of his own performance as such) shows the top ten as:

(8.90) - Pulp Fiction (1994)
(8.40) - Reservoir Dogs (1992)
(8.17) - “Lie to Me: Blinded (#1.12)” (2009)
(8.01) - “Lie to Me: Pilot (#1.1)” (2009)
(7.80) - La leggenda del pianista sull’oceano (1998)
(7.77) - “Lie to Me: Grievous Bodily Harm (#2.5)” (2009)
(7.72) - “Lie to Me: Honey (#2.4)” (2009)
(7.71) - “Lie to Me: The Core of It (#2.1)” (2009)
(7.63) - “Lie to Me: Sacrifice (#1.13)” (2009)
(7.60) - “Lie to Me: Unchained (#1.5)” (2009)
(7.58) - “Lie to Me: Truth or Consequences (#2.2)” (2009)
(7.57) - “Lie to Me: A Perfect Score (#1.3)” (2009)
(7.57) - Made in Britain (1982) (TV)
(7.55) - “Lie to Me: Love Always (#1.4)” (2009)
(7.53) - “Lie to Me: Moral Waiver (#1.2)” (2009)
(7.51) - “Lie to Me: Control Factor (#2.3)” (2009)
(7.50) - Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead (1990)
(7.49) - “Lie to Me: Depraved Heart (#1.8)” (2009)
(7.48) - “Lie to Me: Secret Santa (#2.8)” (2009)
(7.44) - “Lie to Me: Do No Harm (#1.6)” (2009)

This puts * Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead (1990)* behind quite a few * Lie to Me* episodes. Apparently the IMDb voters for this sort of thing think fairly highly of the TV show.

My son is very happy…he loves Human Target. I like it a lot too, especially for Jackie Earl Haley, who steals the show.

Gridlock with Tupac was a very under rated movie.

I’m surprised at both.

Lie To Me I thought was done after they pushed the remainder of the current season into the summer. What renewed show burns off eps in the summer? I like the show, it’s interesting enough, but I wasn’t really bummed about it potentially ending either.

Human Target just seemed like one of those shows Fox doesn’t know how to promote. I think it’s a good show, don’t get me wrong, but shows like this usually get the Firefly, Dollhouse, Tru Calling, Terminator, New Amsterdam treatment. Granted, just getting a 2nd season doesn’t mean Fox can’t still fuck things up down the line, I just didn’t expect it to go beyond the initial order. Anyone know what kinda ratings it drew?

Human Target was OK. Fell into a time slot where it competed with something else I record, and I didn’t like it enough to switch. Lie To Me was also OK, but it didn’t grip me enough to watch.
