I clicked on the link in the OP and that took me to a login screen. I’ve been a member of the RT forums for years but have posted only a handful of times. Took me a while to remember my info, but I got logged in, and was then taken to RT’s front page. I enter the forums and now I’m lost, there are so many different sections and so many different threads. Where was this discussion with Smith and what was the Subject Line?
I love Kevin Smith, but I also love Magnolia. It’s too bad he didn’t like it.
Thanks for the great link, a funny read. I think Kevin handled it well.
Kevin really is not Silent Bob, according to the Clerks Commentary on the DVD; Kevin was more Randall back when. He has obviously evolved since then even though Randall has not. Silent Bob was to be played by a friend of Kevin’s that failed to show up at the filming and so Kevin took on the role instead. Apparently Kevin had a stoner friend that was going to play a caricature of himself. (Yes, just like Jay. Scary thought, apparently Kevin’s other friend was a bigger fuck-up that Jason Mewes) I think Kevin said he took on the role as he decided he might well never make another movie and he might as well have one acting role to look back on when he was still working at the Quick Mart in 20 years. (Not a quote, paraphrasing from memory)
I do not know if anyone else cared about all that, I just thought I would clarify a common misapprehension I have seen and heard often.
It seems that with all the traffic from that thread “going public” they’re requiring logins to even view the boards for the time being. Unless they’ve moved it somewhere else, it appears to be thread 497797 based on my link. You should be able to get to the thread that way if you feel like logging in. Otherwise, it sounds like they’ll open it back up to everyone once things cool down.
**Last minute change in the NetFlix rolling Roadshow for Clerks with Kevin Smith Q&A. **
It has been moved to Marine Park in Red Bank.
This is a copy of the Email from Netflix:
Please let me know if anyone is going to be there.
