For those of you Stateside who liked season one of Life on Mars last year on BBC America, a little FYI: Season 2 starts tonight, 8E/5P, with the first two episodes.
For the other 98% of you, Life on Mars is about a present-day Manchester, UK, detective who is hit by a car and wakes up in 1973.
An awesome show, for which there are no Region 1 (USA) DVDs yet available.
I thought about starting this thread but I didn’t know if anyone cared.
That being said, we’re tremendously excited at the Bunny household! We’ve seen Season 2 already, but I can’t wait to watch it on the TV instead of the computer. I’ve had a reminder set since Sunday evening.
Question for those who’ve seen both seasons - I’m trying to get some other friends of mine here in the States into the show, and they keep asking me if it’s bad if they start in the 2nd season after missing the first. Since the entire premise of the show is repeated at the beginning of every episode, I think they’re fine (aside from missing some fantastic eps in the 1st season) - does anyone see any problem with someone starting in the 2nd season?
Anyway, did anyone watch? I was pleasantly surprised that they showed two episodes; I’ve always enjoyed the one with Harry Wolf, although as soon as my husband and I figured out where we knew him from, we spent the entire time screaming “Aye, SEA TURTLES!” at the screen.
If I had a name like Dickie Fingers, I think I’d turn to a life of crime as well.
The Gov is just my favourite character from any television series, ever.
Well, I’m psyched about this. Our house enjoyed Season I so much on BBCA that we pinged the network several times this summer as to when S2 was going to be run (honestly, why did they delay it for so long?).
One thing that bugs me is the editing; it seems to be much worse this season. Why can they run the full hour episodes in eighty-minute blocks with commercials, like say Bravo! did with “Six Feet Under”? Pad it out to 90 if you need to, but chopping nearly a quarter of the story each week seems like too much.
