Ran errands. Sent Faraway Best Friend the shoes she left when she came to visit. Got a replacement CD player. (Little boom box, really; but it’ll do for now.) Went to the library to pick up a book they were holding for me. Got a couple of movies to (the A&E version of Emma and the 4th season of Frasier. Just for kicks. Gotta get some more data clean-up done and I figured a couple of movies would be fun.
Gonna order some class reunion pics and get some prints made for Mom (I’ve been promising these forever). Need to work on getting some White Elephant stuff together too. Also, decided I would organize DVDs and CDs cuz I know I have a couple of duplicates that I’d like to pass on to my White Elephantee.
Gas meter reader stopped by earlier. I’ve missed them for about a year and the last two readings I sent in bounced because they were lower than what the gas company considered reasonable (I got a new furnace last year), so I guess they got tired. I could pay the gas company money to put an exterior meter in, but that just seems like a stupid use of money.
Got my Christmas cookie party invitation today. Now I have to think up something to bake. Any ideas?
Backyard Burgers turned into Chinese. It looked crowded at BB so we went to a Chinese buffet. ‘Twas good. I am stuffed. Oh and the porch is all put back together. I’m sleepy. I need to get up andso sump’n to keep from fallin’ asleep at twenty minutes after six in the p.m. on a Saturday night. Just call me wild man.
Six new pieces thrown, despite having the cat yelling at me because she thought I should be feeding her. I left the studio in a mess to feed the critters and myself (crab legs - yummmmmm)
We’ve all eaten, but I haven’t done dishes yet - tsk tsk. In a little bit, I have to go back downstairs to cover up the pieces I threw so they don’t dry out too fast before I can finish them. Then I’ll tidy the kitchen and get ready for bed.
We’re pullin’ out all the stops here. ACBG and I are goin’ to pop some microwave popcorn and watch Britcoms. Yeah, I know, I’m probably shouldn’t get so wild but hey ya only go around once. I might even drink a soda with caffiene!
Ooof. Turkey and pumpkin pie and gravy. Gravy doesn’t go that well with pumpkin pie. Anyway, it was Thanksgiving, and it was good. Mr. Lissar has just gone out for a drink with the dojo-ites, and I think I’ll read until later, when we go out dancing. Fun.
I’ve downloaded and edited a bunch of class reunion pics, read the boards, and now, with crackers and mineral water to accompany me, am watching Emma. Woo hoo.
I’m as exciting as the rest of you. I’m sitting here in my PJs looking through the catalogue of the Christie’s auction of Star Trek memorabilia. (whiterabbit said if she wins the lottery she’d buy me Picard’s flute from The Inner Light, so I’m trying to find out just how generous a daughter I have. ) No wonder I fit in so well with the rest of you here.
Apparently on Thursday, when the Amish market opened, customers started offering donations, and the Amish were reluctant to take them at the counters while they were trying to transact business. So customers voluntarily organized and set up tables and made signs and all, and collected funds all day while the market was open and then turned them over at the end of the day. It was totally grassroots. People are nice sometimes, aren’t they?
Back now. Wife and I did some stuff-shopping. I broke out coffeemaker this morning, so we ran out and got a new one, a floor lamp, and while I was spending money, I got me a new pillow.
Then we met the Kid at the theater and saw The Black Dahlia. I liked it, both girls gave it an “eh”.
Had some stir fry for dinner, now I am literally stuffed between two cats on the couch that HATE each other, in that special cat-hatred kind of way. Scarlett to my left, Cuervo to my right and if I get up, they’ll be face to face less than a foot away from each other.
Good Evening, proactically morning. Worked tonight, smae BS as last week.
MBG, it could be worse. I hat the dog and cat start a fight on my chest, while I was lying in bed. All I could do was put my hands over my eyes, and scream “Not the face! Not the face!”.
Happy Thanksgiving, LiLi!! Is Canadian Thanksgiving the start of the Christmas shopping season, like it is South of the Border?
gt, I have a mold for Christmas shaped Jello Jigglers, you could make festive Jello shots like I do.
FCM, worse than the line guy is the bickering couple:
Woman: Pay the man, Fred!
Man: I paid money at the last store, why do I have to pay these people too?
lather, rinse, repeat
rosie, can you get illegal seafood on da Guylandt?
No, no dolphin dinners here.
Had my favorite ‘lite’ clam chowder and the “wood grilled assortment” one piece each of tuna, wild salmon, and swordfish, a coupla scallops and a coupla shrimp - yummmmmmmmmmmm
and Boston Cream Pie for dessert. - There were 9 of us, and a few of the dishes were very late coming out so the management comp’ed us that entree and all the desserts and coffees. We left a better than 20% tip
I don’t know why, but a certain feline felt compelled to smack me in the face repeatedly starting at 5 this morning. I did my best to ignore her or shove her away, but she’d come back and smack-smack-smack. Then the lightbulb came on - she was out of kibble! So I got up, donned a robe and footwear so I could take the dog out, and once I was back in with Bernie, I did the feeding thing. No, she was not out of kibble. She had plenty of kibble. She just wanted *more * kibble, because when I dumped some in her dish, she set upon it like she was starving.
Stoopit cat.
I dreamed last night that I met Rue. I was in Cincinnati for Lyndon Johnson’s funeral, and beforehand, I ran into **Rue ** in a dimly lit hallway. He was wearing a busy Hawaiian shirt. We hugged real good. Then I was sitting outside on a doorstep and someone was pointing out the doberman lying nearby, telling me it was Johnson’s dog.
Why Johnson? I have no idea. Why a doberman? Who knows? Why Rue? Why not??
It’s still dark out, but when it gets lighter, I’ll shower, dress, and head down to check on the boat. I’ll fill the van, too, if the stations down there are still super-cheap. Otherwise, I’ll wait till I go back to work and get the cheap Virginia gas. (I paid 2.01 last week) Somewhere in there, I need breakfast - what to have? What to have???
Heee, I was wondering the same things about your dream, FCM and was going to helpfully point out that Johnson’s funeral wasn’t held in Cincinnati. But yeah, Rue is about the only logical part of that dream there. And the busy Hawaiian shirt part is authentic, I can tell you from personal experience. Well, maybe not so much busy as loud.
I’ve been awake since 6:00 (no puppies or kitties required) thinking about how to get work stuff done today and still have a partly relaxing day. Although I had a rather relaxing day yesterday.
So, of course, I’m watching season four of Frasier and reading the boards. And contemplating breakfast.
Not sure what to have, though. Tummy is kinda annoyed at me. Everything I can think of is inappropriately greasy. (Biscuits, eggs, bacon.)
Frasier is still funny, by the way.
And doggio: I’m not speaking to boyz today. So, there.
Yeah, GT, I know that Johnson’s funeral was more Texan than Ohioan. And if my math is correct, **Rue ** would have been 6 or 7 at the time - was he wearing Hawaiian shirts back then? I knew the shirt part was valid, having seen several photos of our founder.
Well, it’s light out. I suppose I should hop into the shower and get some real clothes on. And have some breakfast. I’ve about finished with my caffeine ingestion, but I think real food would be a good idea. So I guess it’s time to get in gear…
Back from running about. My tank is full (2.02 - I decided to splurge on the extra 17 cents difference between what I paid and what I could pay in Va), I got dog cookies, new sneaks, and a half dozen new bras at WalMart, then I ran to the marina, emptied the bilge (not even a gallon of water - yay!) and offloaded some cushions and the gennaker (a big, honkin’ sail) so we’ll have more room to clean and organize. Plus I need to reupholster the cushions.
Good thing I went early. Today is Patuxent River Appreciation Days Parade - at 1:30, they’ll be closing down the one and only road into Solomons Island for the parade. But I was in and out in plenty of time.
And I just got in from walking Bernie. Next stop, my studio. I wanna make more clay stuff. I may even go outside and pick up sticks later - it’s sunny and quite nice out, if a wee bit cool.
I should go over and smack the cat in the face repeatedly. She’s trying to sleep. Fair is fair, right??
Stoopit cat.
Note: No cats will be harmed at the conclusion of this post. I was kidding. Don’t sic the Animal Rights Goon Squad on me. It was a joke. No, really, it was!
