So this morning my iPhone bleats with a text or something. Between work, personal and iPhone notifications, it bleeps and bloops with stuff all the time all day long, unless of course I get fed up and silence it or turn notifications off. But not an option while I’m working. I glance at the screen, which was at an angle so I couldn’t read it, but it was a very large blue box with big white type, something that was not familiar-looking but seemed very important.
However, I was in a rush to finish a time-sensitive work thing so I didn’t pick the phone up and check it right away. I rushed to finish my work thing, while I’m all distracted by what the message could be.
When I finally picked my phone up and looked, the message said “REDUCE INTERRUPTIONS WITH NOTIFICATION SUMMARY.” I started laughing almost hysterically. I’m glad I was all alone in the house.
Thanks for the memory. Someone asked me recently what was so great about Doonesbury. It’s hard to understand in the current world but imagine being a draft age young man in Russia right now and you might begin to understand.
I’ve been trying to get my mother to get faster internet for years. Fiber optic so I could work from her house. She didn’t want to do it. She misinterpreted information that it was a fire danger. I stopped fighting that battle and leased office space close to her house. (I live 100 miles away).
She died 10/21/22 (one week ago). I have yet to move into my office space. And I don’t need it anymore. I’m out the deposit and the furniture I purchased for the office. That money is gone.
I’m going through paperwork at moms now. Setting up auto pay and such. We don’t have to sell the house immediately. One statement said that she is getting fiber optic internet. No choice. They internet company is getting rid of all copper wire in the area.
Thank you. I just said in another thread that while I have a shit ton of things to do, I have stepped back as there is really no rush. My Wife has been fantastic, and has already taken most of moms clothes in to Good Will.
I know I must be missing something, but the lights, heat, water will stay on at my moms house while we sort through this.
