When I click the “like” button for facebook on the SD main page, a pop up window appears and disappears very rapidly multiple times. This goes on until I cancel it (at least a few minutes). I checked my facebook page and it does not appear to have made any new entries.
I am using Firefox 3.6.18
Have you considered updating your browser? 3.6.18 seems like a rather old version.
Ok I updated Firefox to 5.0 and it is still doing the same thing. The part of the pop up window url that I can see is www.facebook.com/connect_to_external
and the rest scrolls off the screen. It switches rapidly between this and about:blank (which is not what I have my homepage set to)
Are you logged into facebook? Have you tried a different browser?
It’s not. Unlike Firefox 4, it is still officially supported by Mozilla, since it’s the latest version of the previous browser. Facebook definitely still supports it.
Try deleting your Facebook cookies. Tools -> Options -> Privacy -> Remove individual cookies. Then type facebook into the search, and delete all of those. Go back to Facebook and log in again, then try the SDMB pages again.
