From what I’ve read, the guy thought he had discovered a black market for selling human body parts, and was upset that the authorities weren’t taking him seriously. So, he mailed poisinous letters to his senator, the president, and one or two other people.
My guess is, the Boston Marathon Bomber’s motives won’t be much more rational than the ricin guy’s.
Racist(s). Bombing black people. A lot of people complain about American marathon winners being from Africa, maybe someone decided to express the complaint a little more strongly.
I guess I’m reserving judgement more. If what I saw is the pictures they are currently looking at it changes my perspective. However, it could be old information because it takes a while to be filtered down to this level.
Boy are they doing it wrong. The elite runners finished 2 hours earlier.
Yep, based on the remnants of the black bag, and photos/video of the location of the abandoned light-colored bag right before the blast, those are almost definitely the two perpetrators in that video.
My guess, they should be checking video of the likely Canadian border crossings for the same two guys.
I’d add: Lives w/i 3 states of the bombing. Probably close enough to know (and get) Patriots Day off each year while people beyond NE (and maybe northern NY state) wouldn’t have even heard of it.
My first impression wasn’t a tax protest but somebody trying to make a statement to Congress re: gun legislation. Maybe somebody who has only had their license a few years or who just bought an AR-15 and doesn’t want to give it up.
Now, if only we had a Jack Reacher to check the local out-door ranges in NE with better enhanced glossies of their faces, I bet they’d stand out pretty quickly.
Not really a loner if he has a friend to help him set the bombs.
Plus its kinda hard to tell, but I think White Hat is making a phone call in one of the images, and maybe texting in another. Which kinda suggests there were other conspirators. Though I guess it’s possible his mom just chose an inopportune time to call, I’m sure we’ve all been there (well, maybe not exactly there).
Yeah, the technology being used is from the Boston area tech firm Salient Stills. They take multiple frames from a video, remove the motion, stacki the frames on top of each other and interpolate them together.
Personally, I’m not a fan of the company. The basic software was developed by NASA to analyze the Challenger explosion, and should have been released to the public domain, as it was developed using tax dollars. Instead, this one company has an exclusive use of the IP, and they are selling the software back to the public, via Police departments and the FBI. Very annoying.
