Liking iOS 11?

Yes, but the voices haven’t.

Yes they have; it’s just improved now. It has nothing to do with the accent, tho, AFAICT (Cite.):

I use the NZ accent and the new one sounds the same as the old one, but the speech overall is less clipped and mechanical sounding. Ditto for when I switch to one of the other accents.

OK, I just did. Now what?

Hmm, I assumed the English and Australian accents were also new voices like the female American one is.

So you didn’t notice that they aren’t in alphabetical order by song name?

It’s not a new voice. It’s an improved voice. They didn’t record someone new.

Yes they are. Do you have it sorted by Artist?

I switched from Android back to IPhone just yesterday. I only had the old iOS for about 2 hours before I updated, but it seems just fine.

You can now tap the power button five times if you want to temporarily deactivate touchID. Useful if you are going through customs or get pulled over and don’t want anyone snooping in your phone.

I’m waiting on 2 things before I update:

  1. Being at home. My 'net connectivity is too slow/isn’t reliable enough IMO for me to do a major iOS update over here.
  2. 11.0.1 to be released. I’m sure there’s plenty of bugs in 11.0.0; I’ll let others find them, and update once the worst are squashed with a minor point update.

I was too excited to wait for 11.0.1. I wanted to play with iOS 11.

I downloaded/installed while having a few beers at a bar. There are usb outlets along the bar (installed by the owners after I suggested it), so I plugged in. Wifi wasn’t that great, but the download took 55 minutes and the install 15. When the bartender realized what I was up to, she asked me to do her phone also. I got a free beer!

Every time there is an update I think “I’m going to wait a bit for the kinks to be worked out” but the kinks get worked out by releasing another update and I’m back to the beginning again!

No. They completely blew up podcasts. No more sequential playing of shows automatically, no more just going down the list, each one has to be clicked, and it hides podcasts if you don’t show the ALL Shows option.

Music is still messed up.

For iOS 11, we chose a new female voice talent with the goal of improving the naturalness, personality, and expressivity of Siri’s voice.”

My songs are indeed in alphabetical order by song name. In the Songs list in the Music app, you can tap on “Sort” at the top right and choose to sort by “Title” or “Artist.”

:smack:

Let’s go to the quarry and throw stuff down there! Yes! I never noticed that at the top right before; thanks! No idea how it got set that way, but it seemed to change with the last iOS update.

Thanks again!

ETA:

Thank you as well!

And thank you for this too.

Ignorance fought; well done.

And being able to listen to the voices side-by-side (so to speak) the differences are very noticeable.

My gf is not the jealous type, but if she were, she’d be eyeballin you, Siri.

God, yes. This absolutely. The Podcasts app is completely unintuitive, and it eliminated playing shows automatically. What idiot would think that making a person physically select the next podcast to play while someone is driving a good design?

They released a small patch in the last day or so, which seems to have addressed my issue with switching from portrait to landscape. Still can’t manage apps in iTunes.

I had to actually dial a phone number the other day and while the new appearance threw me for a second, I like the new font and look of the keypad.
