Lines from a Movie?

I can remember this little speech quit well, but for some resaon I can’t remember who said it, or who it was to, or in what movie (or TV show) it was in. It’s quite frusterating since it has been bothering me for about a week and a half now. Thanks to all that post… curiosity hopefully won’t kill me.

“To stand here and try and fix her life is just a big waste of time. People don’t want their lives fixed. Nobody wants their problems solved. Their dramas. Their distractions. Their stories resolved. Their messes cleaned up. Because what would they have left? Just the big scary unknown.”

It’s apparently from a book called “Survivor,” by Chuck Pahlaniuk, the author of “Fight Club.” That’s what I get from entering the words “To stand here and try and fix her life is” into Google (they limit searches to 10 words), anyway. I love the internet sometimes.

Incidentally, there is talk of making “Survivor” into a movie.

Its about some dude on an airplane that is about to crash and he’s ditacting his life’s story to a tape or some such.
