Link me to the first topic you made on here, if you can't find it. Anyone who replied still around?

Oooh, I looked it up but it’s hella embarassing. Wow, college. (I mean, seriously, who gets a D in the stupid required phys ed class? That really was ridiculous.) Only two replies, nobody I recognize, March 2001. I’d been lurking for years, though, from back on AOL.

I am so, so sorry that I was dumb in college. And I would now be a fat girl doing ballet, if I were to do ballet.

Still here–Omniscient, Jophiel, Voltaire, pmh, rjk.

Sure you can-- Your first post

Livin’ on Bananas. 20 September 1999.

Can we live on nothing but bananas, water, and air?

The answer was “no”.

Eating peanuts, shell and all.

Only 3 responses, but is was in General Questions.

None of the responders are still around. I have cursed them somehow.

My first thread was announcing my name change. Only kopek and Fear Itself responded. Those guys are cool. The rest of you are now on The List.

Not surprisingly, my first thread was a bowling-related question. Tripler, Gatopescado, Icarus, Clothahump, and Hampshire are all still active. Cunctator was last here a couple of months ago. No one participating in the thread seems to have been banned.

LPs with messages in the dead wax, May 2003. Eight Dopers replied, two of whom are now banned. zut, NDP, eunoia, and **Smapti **have all posted within the last two months.

When I made my own LP recently (yay vinyl revival!) it didn’t occur to me to ask about having a message inscribed in the dead wax.

Potato alcohol. It looks like cher3 is the only responder still active.

A query on anti-bacterial soap from June 2000. The contributor of most recent vintage is jrishaw who last posted in Jan 2015. Only one banned poster - Kilgore Trout.

I still haven’t gotten my answer, but as anti-bacterial soaps are being phased out I think the question is moot.

Gee, I guess I’m joining this topic a bit late.

Anyway, I was able to find my first post: http://www.1728.org/post.jpg

But seriously folks, my first post was

Perceiving a fourth dimension:

I first asked about the lack of stripes on NFL footballs:

Yojimbo is still active (as of last July), as is yabob.

I think I asked something about which coming first, orange or orange. I will check.

Bam, I was right.

I don’t know how many of them are still around. I think a few of them are, but the last few years are a blur and I don’t know if they’ve tailed off or died recently. Do tell if you know.

This is mine about how much opera singers know the languages they sing. Most respondents seem active, except for one now-banned person who called it a stupid question.

From 8/28/2001, a thread about celebrities you wished would just go away. I remember 9/11 happening shortly after I joined.

Some old names to be sure, a few of whom are still around;

Legomancer, Joe_Cool, tiny ham (Jarbaby), pldennison, Fiver, SlightDistrurbance, ThisYearsGirl, Lucifer12, Crusoe, Caricci, Dragwyr, Myrnalene, Sofa King, invisibleOLDlady, Mr. Blue Sky, Qwertyasdfg, Three Dog Night, Kat, RickJay.

A question about [why aren’t Hitler’s speeches shown with subtitles](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=24339\) from May 13, 2000.

Still active members include Earl Snake-Hips Tucker, whitetho, Derleth, Olentzero, and astorian..

References within to ChiefWahoo are directed to me, it was my original username here.

I could have sworn it was about Nietzsche, but it appears I am wrong. That must have been my first post.

My first thread, as user olivesmarch4th:

1-19-2007 Pan’s Labyrinth

Also, kind of a bittersweet thing, I note another thread that I started in January 2007: advice for a future adopter.

I said we’d probably be waiting 7-10 years before we could adopt… it’s been 9 years, and we just started the adoption process yesterday. Perhaps I should start a new thread.

What is ‘dead weight’?, about one month after I joined 17 (!) years ago. Four responses. One lost two the ages, one active somewhat, and two very active 17 years later.

On 10-25-2000 I posted asking about alternative medicine for my mom’s dog’s cancer. Mom ended up giving her dog some whacky supplements and it lived about 9 months, slightly better than the vet’s prognosis.
Responders still posting within the last month include Irishman, Chronos, and Munch.
I don’t think that was really my first thread, I think the older ones were lost in the Winter of Our Missed Content, or maybe I’m not searching correctly.

Here’s mine, from 2003, asking what the big sitcom debut of 1998 was. I was surprised to learn that it was nearly nine years until I started another one! (That sophomore thread was the first of 250 I’ve created since then, an average of one per week.)

ETA: I was on the AOL board in the late 1990s, but I assume those threads are long gone.
