Links not working

In this thread, there’s a link in the OP. Hovering over the link shows that it goes to a product at Grainger. Clicking on it takes you to a page that just says ‘This link is not valid’. When I saw that and saw what was in the URL bar, I didn’t think too much of it because I didn’t hover over it first. It wasn’t until further down that someone else mentioned having a problem as well, so it’s not just me.

For those that don’t want (and probably shouldn’t) to click on it, it redirects to a website called pepper jam network. The exact link being redirected to is http://www.pepperjamnetwork.com/tracking/error.php

Also, before anyone says it, it’s not my browser or computer. Another poster mentioned it and I tried it on my phone as well.

The code for the link is correct, and pasting the link from the code (https://www.grainger.com/content/safety-electrical-power-system-harmonics) works just fine.

It would be nice if TPTB could the site to the point that someone wasn’t complaining about it not functioning properly every week.

PS Apparently noparse tags don’t work anymore so those are all active links, also the grainger one redirects to that pepperjam page.

(test grainger.com)
Interesting grainger . com redirects, google . com doesn’t.

I have viglink blocked on my computer and the link in the post goes directly to granger.com.

A good adblocker will prevent redirects like that, too. With my adblocker shut off, the link went to the pepperjam page. With the adblocker on, it went right to the Grainger page. I know that doesn’t address the underlying problem of the Dope serving up malicious ads, though.

https://www.grainger.com/content/safety-electrical-power-system-harmonics

Testing the noparse tags. They seem to work for me. I think Viglink bypasses the code that makes the tags work. Opting out of Viglink or using an adblocker should prevent links from being parsed that you don’t intend to. With the Viglink on, you will still see them turned into links in other people’s posts, however.

P.S.: The noparse tags in your post are working for me. I don’t see anything turned into a link on my screen.

Strange, it’s still redirecting for me and I am using ABP. I would have tried it on my home computer but for some reason this thread never popped up for me last night, I just assumed it never got any replies (until now when I specifically went and checked on it). It even lists me as being subscribed, I must have just missed it.

A few other things, I noticed that only some of the links spawn new tabs, the redirected ones don’t, I’m not sure if that’s always the case since it seems like it’s hit or miss in general even though it should always happen (FireFox if it makes a difference).

Lastly, probably just a typo but Alley Dweller, you typed Granger not Grainger. I only say that on the off chance that you were testing this by clicking on your own link.

Oh, and noparse still isn’t working for me. I figured it was viglink, but I forgot that viglink ignores noparse.

I’m also kind of curious as to if it’s happening with other links. I couldn’t find any myself, but I do see other people complaining about it on around the web. Googling for pepperjamnetworks and redirect brings up some results.
