Links please? (Olympics-related)

There’s no way I’ll be able to watch much of the Olympics on TV this year, at least not the first week, so what are the best links where I can go to see photos, video, updates and tidbits? Starting with highlights from the Opening Ceremony, which I completely missed. I don’t care about being spoiled on results since I can’t watch any of it in prime time anyway.

I’m going to be reading the threads here, but they already seem to be geared toward people who’ve seen what’s to be seen and so people talk as if assuming everyone knows what they’re referring to. Ok, bad grammar but you know what I mean.

Help the clueless, please? This is the first Olympics in many years that I haven’t had use of the Tivo. We got the Tivo in the first place because of the Winter Olympics (in 2002), so it stings to remember that I had it and our DirecTV turned off on purpose a few months ago (a financial decision).

Thanks in advance!

You do know you can watch online and on demand with the nbcolympics.com site, right?

Yes you can. I’m watching the equestrian feed right now. They have a lot of online coverage. You have to download Silverlight from the NBCOlympics.com site. So not something you can do on a work computer, but it worked pretty well for me at home.

You don’t have to download the silverlight. That simply allows you to use the enhanced player. I use the silverlight at home, but didn’t download it at work and the regular player works fine.

So far, no streaming restrictions at work.

Ha, thanks, I hadn’t even thought to check there. It comes from a deeply-entrenched notion that if a person wants actual information and useful content, the “Official” site (for whatever topic/product/service) is the absolute last place to look for it. I actually did find some information and somewhat useful content there. I was able to watch the men’s 400 IM final, though it refused to show me the women’s 400 IM final (if it’s not up yet, I wish they wouldn’t include the link, or at least have a notice saying “Coming soon”). I’m at work so I can’t install any other program but I might do that at home.

Thanks!
