I just looked in and Tiya was standing quietly while Larry nursed. Ah, looked again and she’s much calmer but he seems wary of approaching the lunch counter – wonder why?
Meanwhile, Magic is still holding on but Rosie has a baby! Looks like a wild pinto from what I can see – foal’s lying down alseep and mom’s blocking most of him – no, her! – but I can make out white up one front leg over the knee and a face that looks like baby’d dipped it almost to the ears in a bucket of white paint. Mare Stare board says filly.
ETA: Oh, and Pacific Pintos still has only three cameras working, and no more foals on the ground yet.
Hey, that other mare for the Shezza people may be going into labor! Lying down, up sternal to look at her flank, flat again – something to keep an eye on anyway.
ETA: Yeh, she is – current Tweet: “Dream looks to be in the first stages of labor. She is limping and we will be contacting the vet. Please call if she starts pacing or pushing about 1 hour ago”
Thanks for this thread. It’s given me many hours of entertainment and slacking off from other stuff I should be doing. I keep missing the births, but it’s just as fun watching the newborns. Rosie’s filly is adorable. Looks like I’ll be watching Dream today. Go go!
Well things seem calm now with Tiya and Larry. I hope they have bonded properly now.
Rosie’s foal’s blanket is off now so you can see her in all her glory.
Rosie at Elements is shifting her weight from foot to foot, looking back at her belly now and then, licking and chewing. Betcha she goes before morning.
Witt’s latest Tweet, from seven hours ago: “Dream is in Labor and we are here watching her. Thank you and enjoy” – although nothing appears to be happening at the moment.
The three Pacific Pintos beach balls seem disinclined to produce anything any time soon.
El Bee shows no signs of foaling.
Tiya appears to have figured out this maternal thing.
When my mother was pregnant with me, in the early '60’s, she already had 4 under the age of 6, and had uterine cancer. She was tired. So the doctor prescribed drugs that gave her much, much energy. She said her floors never had been so clean. I slept for the first 6 months after I was born, coming down off a prenatal high.
ETA: How in the world am I suppose to watch all these mares and Glee, too?
Is it just me or does anyone else think they were pulling too aggressively? I was under the impression you were only supposed to pull with nthe contractions unless there was trouble?
Maybe there was trouble; I noticed it wasn’t till both of them pulled that the foal’s head appeared to emerge, and the sac got ripped off its face damn fast. It seemed to be stuck till both pulled.
