Live From Daryl's House (Daryl Hall of Hall & Oates)

Live From Dayrl’s House.

I don’t know how I only recently stumbled across this since it’s been around for years now. I was never a big Hall & Oates fan, but maybe they were my “guily pleasure” band, as I now realize I like a lot of their stuff. This isn’t really a nostalgia tour, it’s more about Hall making music with old and new collaborators. So far I’ve watched the episodes with Smokey Robinson, K.T. Tunstall and Nikki Jean and really enjoyed them. It’s both a webcast and on tv in some cities.

Here is a description from the site:

Daryl Hall has genuine musical talent - I happen to like the songcraft of the H&O hits, but understand if they weren’t everyone’s cuppa. But it is always interesting and fun to see a truly great musician engage other musicians. I’ve seen a couple - one with Scottish musician KT Tunstall comes to mind - and they were great…

The ones he’s done with Todd Rundgren were especially good. They both come from the same background - Philly kids steeped in that city’s soul - and have been friends going back to when he produced their album War Babies. They actually toured together once, and hopefully will do so again.

Looks like the main house he records in is for sale:

250 acres in Amenia, NY.
