Guys (and Ladies),
Khadijah, Synclaire, Max or Regine?
Can you tell why?
I guess Regine… that was Kim Fields, right? She was the cutest, definitely had an attitude but a certain cluelessness about her.
Khadijah was a little too much woman for me. Synclaire was cute but she got a lot bigger as the series went on. Max - definitely not. Her conniving attitude was really off-putting.
Yes, Kim Fields played Regine.
I liked Synclaire a lot, but her airheadedness would start to wear in about 15 minutes. She’d be a fun friend though.
Max is my favorite kind of sitcom woman; she’s sassy, irreverent, and ever so insouciant, with a great body. Again, fun, but probably a bit tiresome after a while.
It’d end up being a tie between Khadija and Regine. Regine was a little pretentious but very pretty and I think as a partner she’d listen to really important stuff you’re trying to clue her in on. Khadija was a lot of woman (in both senses of the word) but she was smart, hardworking and ambitious – good stuff to have in a mate.
5ynclaire for me, followed by Regine, then Max, then Kadijah.
Any particular reason why?
Picks can be made based on friendship preferences too!
Synclaire has the best personality, I think. Regine is the best looking. Max and Kadijah are too hard-headed, my way or the highway types.
Interesting…so Regine being all materialistic and shallow and more interested in having you buy her something glittery than discussing the issues of the day are topped by the pretty?
I’m female, but I always figured guys would run screaming from the high-maintenance types like her.
Max had the nearly impenetrable shell, but if you could get through that, she’d be fiercely loyal and funny and wild in bed. If you don’t mind them slightly bony, of course.
Synclaire was pretty and sweet and her brand of ditzy is more naive and innocent and not the type of stupid you can’t fix. She’d nurture you damn near to death, but the chunkiness could be a factor.
Khadija’s the best all around bet, smart and funny and pretty and hard-working, more of a challenge because you wouldn’t be able to put anything over on her, but I’d think that preferable to Regine’s issues.
Am I just thinking too chick-like for this?
As a friend, I think Khadijah would make the best one. She seems like she’d be down for whatever. She was definitely the most normal one in the house.
Sinclair would grate the most, I think. Ironically, people have likened me to her personality-wise, but I consider that an insult. She’s sweet, but the kind of sweetness that gives you diabetes and rots your teeth after awhile. I think it is admirable that she has a hobby (acting), though. The others aren’t that interesting.
I admire Max the most. She is strong, funny, intelligent, and has the best body. The girl is also the “id” personified, which means I probably wouldn’t be able to tolerate her for very long. Way too demanding. But she’ll have your back if you’re ever in a fight!
Regine reminds me of my sister, so I think I could handle her flaws. She’s the type of person who will dig the fungus out of your toenails and then scratch the dandruff out of your scalp, all while telling you about her boyfriend’s penis. But because she’s a bit shallow, I wouldn’t want to tell her all my business. Regine is a good friend to have only when you’re happy and life is good. She can’t handle people with issues.
I like straightforwardness, so Khadija would be my pick of friend. Max was to manipulative and underhanded for me to trust.
Overton over Kyle. I’ll take earnest over glitzy any day.
Not exactly, though I didn’t explain it thoroughly. I think sometimes people like that focus on material things because deep-down they are insecure. Besides being prejudiced by seeing the actress grow up on The Facts of Life I sort of see through all of that to a person who, once nurtured, could reveal better values than you saw every day on the show. She actually did it occasionally. Not easy to live with but there’s a worthwhile person under all those masks, errrr, I mean wigs.
Won’ argue with you here.
I’m gay actually but have always been a qualities before looks person (even though I first mentioned Regine’s looks); chunkiness wouldn’t bother me, nurturing wouldn’t either, but if ditziness couldn’t be fixed, I’d lose paitence fairly quickly.
This would be a classic “mate with someone like your mother choice”; that’s why she tied for for qualities I’d like.
Don’t know about that, but you’ve certainly help take this thread where I hoped it would go. Thanks.
Oh, hell yes. I didn’t even want to go there. I thought about doing a Living Singles guy version but with only two main male characters didn’t know if it would work.
Now if you want to add Khadija’s later boyfriend, Scooter (Cress Williams) all bets are off! Couldn’t act for shit but the “cutest with masculine” black man on TV.
Very normal, therefore, able to be open to fun. I think there are some not unreasonable limits there which, given the overall person, could represent a good thing.
Like I said, I do like her. I think her she comes by her sweetness honestly but I would be no less diabetic and toothless at the end of the day. It’s interesting that both she and Joey Tribbiani (Friends) both spacey play characters who are actors. Hmmmmm.
I get the feeling she could take care of herself mujer a mujer or, at most, with the aid of a small dull nail file. Again, she’s my favorite type of sitcom woman – sassy, brassy and just this side of classy. She has that slouch-ey way of moving that a foreign exchange student in one of my screenwriting classes inadvertently captured perfectly in describing one of her characters using her moderate grasp of the English: "She entered the room and dumped down on the sofa. That’s Max 100%.
Good and nuanced analysis that fits. The scalp-scratching bit is so evocative of the closeness and bonding that I remember from when I was younger and had longer hair and my cousin would scratch out, wash, oil and/or braid my hair. We did share a lot during those sessions, even when we didn’t talk at all.
Regine and Synclaire as sisters - wow! No offense intended (I like strong woman on TV) but I always pictured you with the face as the one-time character Cassie Kincaid from The Jefferrsons.
