Liz And Dick: New Lifetime Linsday Lohan Film - Hysterically Funny Review

It doesn’t take a lot of talent to play a teenage girl. There’ve been a lot of talented teen actresses. Very few make it as adults.

Which is why I said decent to good. She certainly wasn’t poised to become the next Meryl Streep, but I never considered her bad.

Huh, they cast they guy who played Wolfgang Westas Richard Burton? That’s just weird.

We took the Challenger Deep option.

We couldn’t hold our breath longer than that.

There was never no way, no how that this movie venture was going to turn out well. Regardless of her history and reputation, there was no reason in the world any serious film maker would cast Ms. Lohan as Elizabeth Taylor. The producer is a schmuck for trying to pull of such a shenanigan with a straight face and she, poor darling, is a dumbass for going along with it.

My point is only that, unlike the reviewer, we should not be putting this fiasco on Lohan’s shoulders. It’s no surprise she isn’t good in it, but it would take a supremely talented actress to compensate from the other errors in casting, script writing, directing, and editing. It appears the producers couldn’t find (didn’t know they should find) or afford that actress.

I have a handful of Welsh friends, and they are up in arms about the film not because of Lohan, but rather because the portrayal of Richard Burton. One of the comments that struck me as especially funny was, “Look at it from our side, You have thousands of bad actresses. We have had one great Welsh actor who has gained worldwide fame, and you do this to him.”

Can any of us say, with certainty, we’d have fared better, if we’d been pushed into the bread earner position, when still a child? By two parents who are the epitome of ‘hot messes’ themselves. To then have fame while so young, your parents dysfunction play out in public, in a town ready to eat you alive. Enough money to send the marriage into a truly ugly divorce. Drug problems, jail time, drinking and driving, hounded by paparazzi. Eek, it’s not a life I’d survive.

Yeah, she’s made a lot of bad choices, but I can find it in my heart to forgo slagging on her, she’s still so young.

This may be true but no review is going to include the line “Struggling against a poor cast, script and direction, Lohan gives her best and tries to shine as Ms. Taylor…”

She put forth a terrible performance in a terrible film.

Today’s gossip headline: Lindsay devastated by bad reviews. That girl has lost touch with reality, if she ever had it to start with.

Clooney’s last publicized appearance fee was $600,000.00

I don’t see why people are all over Lohan for cashing in on appearance fees. It’s legitimate income and nothing to sneer at. Hardly whoring.

It’s worse than that. The story I read said it was the first movie she did which got bad reviews.

Umm, I Know Who Killed Me is 9% at RT. Georgia Rule is 17%, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen is 13%, etc. She hasn’t had a major role in a decent movie since Mean Girls.

I think you’re really underestimating what people will pay. The Kardashians make tons of money for just showing up at clubs for an hour-- even the lower level Kardashians. Kim is reported to get $300k for a New Years club appearance in Vegas. Is Lohan as popular as the Kardashians are right now? No. But if you could make $25,000 and get a free trip to Vegas for a weekend (where you probably get to stay in an amazing suite). . .and all you have to do is stand in the VIP section, wave at the peons, and drink with your friends for 3 hours. . . you’d probably do it, too. And if Snooki can get $25k, I’m sure Lohan can, too. Heck, even no names from “The Love of Ray Jay 2” make a few grand for club appearances.

See, there you go.

I don’t get the problem with appearance fees either. Like I said, it’s very common. The comparisons to prostitution are absurd.

Was she criticized, or the movie though? Just skimming reviews of Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen most of the reviews either barely mention her performance, or mildly praise her while tearing the movie as a whole a new one. She’s been in several bad movies, but I’m not sure that her acting, specifically, has even been attacked this badly.

I suppose I am having a hard time dealing with a world where Kim Kardashian gets $300K for showing up at a party. But I’m sure it’s real. And yeah, I’d do it too for that kind of money. I’ve done worse for less.

If you click on the Snooki link, they explain how much money she makes for the club:

Now, a big Vegas club on New Years Eve is going to charge way more for. . . well, everything than a club at Rutgers would even on its best night. So, if they are in fact paying Kim $300,000, you can assume the club plans to make a few million that night-- in which case, she’s well worth the fee.

Umm, you bet. For I Know Who Killed Me, 3 of it’s then-record 8 Razzie wins were for LL: as Worst Actress. (Twice. She played twins, again. Oops, spoiler.) Plus Worst Screen Couple. (For her twin roles.) It was up against Norbit, so, yeah, it was that bad.

If you win 3 Razzies, you aren’t a virgin anymore for bad acting reviews.

Ya know the only Lohan film I’ve ever seen was the one that made her a star, Mean Girls, and I found that a huge disappointment. It wasn’t terrible, it just wasn’t that good either. It wanted to be smart. edgy & cynical like *Heathers *but also smart, sweet & fun like Clueless, so instead it wound up being an uneven, unsmart, mish-mash of genres that ultimately wasn’t much more than a lightweight teen comedy. And that’s the thing, Lohan was fine in it, but anyone could have been. It wasn’t a tough role.

Anyway, all I could think of while watching Liz & Dick was how Lohan literally can’t act. At all. She gave the exact same performance as in Mean Girls. She reads her lines like an ignorant teenage girl talks- too fast, with no feeling nor believability. Ya know, the exact same way she talks in real life! I felt sorrow for the other actors in this, cause most of their performances were ok (for a Lifetime original movie at least). I hope Lohan put at least some of her paycheck for this someplace other than up her nose…
