She still does a handful of acting roles and seems to be in demand for commercials.

Now, it’s been 4 years, and she hasn’t exactly been living frugally, but I suspect she might still have some of that money.
One modelling gig in Europe or Asia you’ve never heard of can net her a million clams. Indeed, one of the things she’s in trouble for was that instead of doing her community service, she was travelling to Europe to pick up work. Trust me; Lindsay Lohan isn’t flying to Europe for fifty bucks.
She’s a celebrity. People pay celebrities gobs of money just to exist. They don’t need to do much.
Seriously? There are magazines across the big water that will pay one million dollars for her to come and vouge it up on a modeling shoot? I would need to see a cite for that.
I’m not seeing any gaping holes in her IMDB page. 2001 is the most recent year I see something without an entry and she was only 15 then. Seems like pretty steady work to me.
I guess I speaking from my perspective as a consumer of entertainment media and the fact that she seems to like stealing stuff. If (per the response in this thread) she’s infilling will a lot of gigs related mainly to her notoriety that would make sense as to how she’s paying the bills.
Stealing stuff doesn’t always have to do with being poor. Sure, it might mean she’s running out of money. It could also mean that she likes the thrill, or that she wants to get caught (for the attention) or that she thinks the item is too expensive or that she just doesn’t want to pay for it or she has a mental problem or that stealing things is why she still has money. Could be lots of reasons, but not having money isn’t the first thing I would jump to.
Didn’t we just have a thread on here not to long ago about someone who’s friend or neighbor was using a stolen credit card to pay for pizza even though he was well paid attorney or something like that?
If I had to guess, with someone like Lohan, stealing is probably just a byproduct of somebody who has been pampered, spoiled and catered to ever since she was a young child, not due to any true monetary need.
I think that after she stole the necklace, it came out that she had taken a lot of other stuff over the years, (some of which was legitimately loaned to her by various designers for her to wear at media events, but was still expected back afterwards) including one store that had given her tens of thousands of dollars worth of high end clothing, and had been after her for many months trying to get their stuff back.
Finally, when she apparently decided she probably didn’t want TWO theft cases pending against her at the same time while already on probation, she ended up sending back the “borrowed” clothing, which somehow had been freshly soaked in urine before being boxed up and returned to it’s rightful owner.
She has been working some, but I don’t know how much she’s been making from it. The one movie she was in last year was Machete in a supporting role. I don’t know how much she was paid for it, but according to Box Office Mojo, the overall budget was $10.5 million, and since she was not one of the main leads, I’m guessing she didn’t get paid a huge amount. She probably got more than the average regular person makes in a year, but still not enough to live like a movie star.
Also, it depends on what you mean by steady work. She has projects listed for every year, but for the last three years it’s just one credit for each year. For most working actors, it seems like it’s more common to average three or more credits per year. Take Michelle Rodriguez, one of the other actresses from Machete for example.
I don’t know where Lohan’s getting money nowadays, but it seems it’s mostly not from acting.

I actually read this today, somewhere. I forget where exactly, but I think it was in a publication that you buy in a publication store. It said she promotes movies via her tweets, and does appearances at clubs.
She’s actually a secret agent, using her status as an actress to help her gain access to the high-roller parties where all the dirty deals go down. Code name: Skank.
In a story in New York’s second-most disreputable newspaper, it says she has a $500,000 modeling offer from a German designer hanging in the balance and shills stuff on her tweets. Some reports say she is in debt for $600,000 by her mother-from-hell/manager Dinah denies that.
And lawsuits. She sued the e-Trade babies for making fun of her somehow, and actually got some money. And the Marvin comic strip has just introduced an obnoxious Lindsey Lola baby, who is guaranteed to be the focus of the next lawsuit. I think the companies give her a few bucks just to make her go away - but it’s all good, it’s publicity.

About a year ago, washed up child star Todd (“Different Stokes”) Bridges was in Austin, and gave a brief interview to the local paper.
The reporter was probably TRYING to be a bit snarky, and asked how Todd made a living, since he didn’t seem to have much of an acting career.
Bridges answered, essentially, “I’m not too proud to take anything. Infomercial? Sure, I’ll do it. Dumb reality show wants me for a cameo? Sure, I’ll do it. Some gossip show will pay me for an interview to talk about my drug habits? I’ll do it. And you know what? I made over $200,000 last year.”
Lindsay Lohan is in bad shape, but if even Todd Bridges can make a comfortable living, she can probably still pay for her groceries.
