In the UK, McDonald’s current efforts are focusing on Indian-themed foods like the Chicken Tikka McSalad Shaker.
McPinchy?
In Italy McDonalds have a proper salad bar ,something I have never seen here in the UK.
It’s more boring tan that - The Lobster Roll. It’s a pretty decent sandwich, too.
Here is a previous thread about the variety of foods at differing McDonald’s locations.

poohpah, hun, it’s a rather pathetic marketing ploy, as you can get better plate lunches ANYWHERE. You’ve got to be desperate for a plate lunch to go to McDs for one. Hell, 7-Eleven has these little bentos with musubis and fried chicken and hot dogs that are gourmet fare compared to those lame McPlate Lunches, or whatever the heck they’re calling them.
I must give them credit for one thing, though: at least the rice isn’t igloo rice. Considering it’s a fast food place, the rice isn’t half bad.
McDs does have a teriyaki sauce burger, the wonderful McTeri sandwich. (Can’t believe I forgot about it in my first post!) And it’s damn good. But they put mayo on it. I have never understood the reason for mayo on a teri-sauce sandwich. That’s just wrong…
And leave my Vienna Sausages alone!
China Guy, my goodness. I figured they had to be popular somewhere, but I had no idea… Good thinking on the missus’ part, there.
You made this entire thread worth reading. What would life be like without the obligatory Simpson’s reference?

Thanks, Zenster! And on my birthday, yet!
You’re paying £5 for a happy meal? why? - they are £1.99 where I live. Personally , I think £1.99 for a meal, drink and (usually quite good*) toy is pretty unbeatable value, not that I’m personally a huge fan of McD’s, but it keeps the kids quiet.
*[SUP]The children’s classic TV characters are excellent, as are most of the soft happy meal toys; the hard plastic toys are usually crap though[/sup]
When I was down in New Orleans a few years ago, the McDonald’s had a Cajun Chicken sandwich. No, I didn’t order it. Who the heck wants to go to McDonald’s, if you’re in New Orleans?
When was that, ZipperJJ?
No, I mean that the official shop merchandise of Bagpuss and stuff is usually no less than a fiver. Happy Meals are £1.99 here too.
Here in Los Angeles we have chorizo and egg burritos for breakfast, and they just introduced sourdough burgers and sandwiches. Their Great Tastes Menu was created to introduce regional items and see how they do. Our first batch was the chorizo burrito, another mexican burrito, and some kind of torta. The chorizo made the cut and is now on the regular menu, the other burrito and the torta are gone, and the sourdough burgers are now getting their shot at glory.
We have the Cajun Chicken sandwich here in LA too. It’s 99 cents.
In San Gabriel, CA I saw a KFC with a buffet. Do they have these anywhere else?
Here in Bangkok they have a Samurai Pork Burger. It’s not bad. I don’t recommend the Taro pie, though, the sweet corn one is much better. (Caution: filling is hot.)
The real tragedy is that McDonalds here does not serve breakfast. Oh, but I do pine for a sausage McMuffin with Egg!
here in India they have a Chicken McGrill, which is an Indianised version of the chicken burger, filled with chutney and Indian spices. It’s really spicy…
out here thye have the big and tasty … its just a rip off of the whopper and a cajun “spicy” chicken sandwhich to battle carls jr jack in the box ect
but around here if one or more chain advertises it or has it mcds will have some varaition of it although in the walmart mcds we have they serve pizza and hotdogs
although its odd everytime mcds changes anything they lose business … i quit going there when they changed the sundaes from soft serve to frozen yogurt and changed what they made their shakes out of i went else where
now what was a national promotion a year or 2 ago is still here the wednesday 29 cent hamburgers and the 39 cent cheese burger sunday in fatc theyve expanded it here to have a sandwhich on special everyday
now what strikes me as odd it the price variences among indivisual mcds espically in large cities its like gas stations the farther ya get out of town heres slight price changes in some cases like in bus stations and such a hamburgercharged as much as a dollar of course this was 5 years ago
on the kfc buffet actually i seen this in indiana 5 years ago and it was for lunch it was basically a all you can eat of there items althouhg it did have bbq chicken another variance ive noticed is the pizza chains like out here chicken on pizza is popular
whats your local variation of pizza toppings ?
