Just thought I’d share a couple of stories I saw on KIRO-7 (Seattle) this morning. I checked their website, but didn’t find the stories there. Too little caffeine, or just inept at searching local news sites.
The first one is about a woman who was selling her child care products on eBay. The little girl uses a wheelchair, and they receive government assistance (Welfare? AFDC?). It seems that the mother was getting things like Pediacure (? Or something like that. Started with a “P”.) and selling it on eBay by the case, instead of giving it to her daughter. The woman was turned in by a neighbour or a buyer.
In other news, a man bought a Compaq Presario from a Sam’s Club in North Seattle. When he got it home, he found that the hard drive was “full of viruses” and contained child pornography. The man thought he had bought a new computer. Sam’s Club admitted that they sometimes sell “refurbished” computers, and gave him a new computer. The offensive computer was turned over to police. In addition to the child pornography, there were also “familiy photos” that might help to track down the previous owner.
Finally, Seattle’s historic waterfront streetcar may be shut down next year because the maintenance barn is scheduled to be torn down to make way for a new sculpture garden. Officials are looking for a new place to maintain the streetcars, which may or may not be found.
