Loki TV series discussion (spoilers)

Ah, I’d completely forgotten about that, thanks! So what’s the purple light, has that been shown before?

It was that giant monster that killed everyone dropped there and guarded the entrance to he who remains fortress.

I agree that the finale somewhat redeemed what was a very uneven season. I think it would be interesting to go through and rewatch the whole thing now that we know how it ends and see if character motivations actually make sense… particularly in the messy part in the middle when it was unclear what Loki wanted, what Renslayer wanted, etc.

I also definitely had a hard time getting back into it… maybe I should have rewatched S1, but while S1 was good, I thought I remembered it well enough not to need to rewatch.

Who may or may not be a threat to Renslayer, given that she was one of HWR’s generals there at the end of time.

My daughter pointed out that in the Loki: Agent of Asgard comic he evolves from being the “God of Mischief” to being the “God of Stories”. Which would align with what we saw here, from a certain viewpoint.

The name that I have heard the most is John Boyega.

i had loki sunday. i rewatched series 1 and then 2. you can see his progression. his going back and forth in time trying to find a solution, then realizing what the solution is and stepping up and doing it.

wow! nicely done, mr hiddleston.

They should commit to never showing this Loki again and let Hiddleston have a solid ending. In fact, I think he should retire from the character entirely.

Then again, Hugh Jackman quit Wolverine and will again be in another movie featuring Wolverine next year.

To be clear, Loki is now the most powerful being in the multiverse, or at least one of the most powerful? But he’s trapped in the big chair, he has to stay there to maintain the balance of the timelines.

But is he really trapped? He can travel to any point in time and then return to the exact moment he left.

Yep. That’s exactly what we saw him doing in the final episode.

Doesn’t Loki get trapped inside a tree in Norse mythology? I thought the ending was a nod to that, if I’m recalling correctly. The tree is a nice metaphor, but trees need pruning as well in order to stay healthy.

I don’t at all see why OB and the others would recreate Miss Minutes.

That rings a bell, until somebody sheds a tear for him or something… But the tree itself recalls Yggdrasil, the world ash from Norse mythology. Which really should mean that eventually Rocket is going to take the role of Ratatoskr, the squirrel relaying messages between the dragon Nidhögg gnawing at the tree’s roots and the eagle in it’s crown.

Yes, by all accounts Loki did, in fact, take the form of the tree Yggdrasil in Norse mythology.

@muldoonthief - Indeed. And a satisfying conclusion to Loki’s character arc IMHO. He goes from a spoiled, petulant, “puny god” only concerned with accumulating power to feed his own ego to obtaining the ultimate power at the sacrifice of his own freedom in a role that will largely be unknown outside of a maybe few people in the TVA (I don’t recall if Sylvie, Oby, Mobius and the rest remember what happened to Loki).

Is that the tree that was engraved on the wall near the start of the first Captain America film? In the church where the bad guys found the tesseract. If so, that’s a nice circular ending for Loki. Almost like a snake eating itself.

Commonly known as an Ouroboros!

I believe it was.

That’s the Greek name for the mythotype.

The Norse name for such an immense tail-eating serpent is Jörmungandr. The “Midgard Serpent.”

He could, but can he still? He’d have to let go of the timelines, and who (Who?) knows if he could grasp them again. Also, he’s outside of time right now (I assume) which seems like it would be important.

Heard a good theory (easter egg?) today: the time stone and all time magic is green because of Loki.

I mean, it’s obviously a coincidence - but it’s a cool one.

One of Loki’s talents/tricks is making avatars of himself, so maybe he can still travel the multi-verse that way.
