London UK Dopers--Anyone up for a pint or two in mid-June??

I hesitate to use the word Dopefest, but anyone up for a pint or two? I’ll be coming back to London arriving afternoon 11 June sat and leaving tues morn 21 June. Staying at QMUL on the east side near Stepney Green for 6 days, then near Oxford Circus, another college for 4 days.

I’m visting a friend, who works a lot, and usually nights. So I’ll have a lot of nights open, and maybe a few days. You can only go to Leicester Square & Tate Modern so many times, you know.

My friend will know the work schedule that monday, but I’m betting I’ll be free each saturday night. I know my way around pretty good, as long as it’s Zone 1, maybe 2.

So, any Dopers up for a drink? Remember, I’m American and drink American beer, and I don’t need much of it. If not, a sugestion on what a 45 yr old American might go that won’t break the bank (fat chance!) and be fun?

Anything fun going on in London then?? I think I may make a trip to Brighton too, and maybe Stonehenge and see what it’s like a day or two before Solstice–though I’m expecting it to be a mess out there.

I daresay the Londopers wil be up for a drink or few, slthough if you want American beer you may need to stick to getting water out of the Thames.

I’ll sling a link to this thread onto NADS, you may get more response that way.

Hah, Stonehenge any time near the Solstice? Infested with policmen, if memory servies. Admittedly, though, I’m thinking of 1985. so forget I said that.

Methinks not all of the London “Dopers” resubscribed, so you might also want to look for them at http://p086.ezboard.com/bnads
(I’m not a London Doper, merely an interefering Glaswegian.

Haha, Angua - great minds, I see1

And in my case, fiendishly slow in posting.

Great. Another UK Doper trying to get into my brain.

I thought I’d temporarily solved it by going to Washington DC for a fortnight!

You can run, but you can’t hide from Dopers…We went to Glasgow/Arran last November. Not a good time to be in Isle Arran, but nice. No one should hold that against you.

I didn’t mean I WANT an American beer, just that I’m used to them–and there’s a difference.
I didn’t know about the NADS thing. They picked a wonderful name… :dubious:
Why’d all the UK Dopers leave?, we all didn’t vote for Bush over here.

A lot of people just found that they weren’t posting anymore.

Dang - i’ll miss you by two days - i fly out to New York on the 9th :frowning:

Looks like my parents want to visit on the 16th June. :frowning:

Bloomsday!

But “no beer weekend” for Angua. :frowning:

Hey - I was planning on taking a trip out to Dublin specially for Bloomsday. Do you think ther’d be any Dopers there to make a SuperGeek day of it?

I was in Dublin for last year’s (an unsuccessful interview at UCD…): didn’t actually see much Bloom-related malarkey except a shower of eejits in Edwardian costume belljinglingly bicycling along O’Connell Street. Plus some enterprising Joyce scholar had chalked “Bloom Is A Cod” upon a hoarding in Capel Street. I wonder how many of those passing - besides myself - got the reference?

Not sure I’ll make it there again this year. But I’ll take a pint with you in The Smoke.
