There you are wrong :)) I just got to London yesterday and am heading out to St. Albans today. Having researched my options a bit more I am now leaning towards finding a place in St. Albans - slightly more space for the same rent as in London and less money getting to and back from work. I’m booked into a B&B till the 27th so hopefully have a place by then
Just be warned that your travel (and going out) options will be far more limited. With London you’re not really paying for space, you’re paying to be in the city.
(Although i think that the last train to St Albans from St Pancras goes about 1am, so its not too bad)
So, who wants to try and find an area in the Chandos on a Friday night 
and are there any more London Dopers around?
I am aware of the limited travel options. I enquired about a monthly seasonal ticket from West Hampstead to Luton Airport and it is going to cost me 275GBP, adding in daily travel on tube/bus and I am up to 100GBP weekly just for travel. When I combine that with the the rents I have been finding I would be living in London but have no money left for food, etc 
(my only option would be to find a somewhat cheap flatshare which I haven’t sofar)
Therefore I have set my sights on St. Albans which still has plenty of pubs (though none gay) and just do London on the weekends.
I’m counting on being there then on the 25th

Well, when Gaderene (Hi Gad!) was in town and GomiBoy (You owe me a pint) left us in the back of beyond, Illuminatiprimus blew everyone’s cover by bringing a sign. 
Look for the other confused guy because that will probably be me.
Well it was either that or a 1920s style death ray; I thought that might have been a bit conspicuous.

It just tickled me that someone with your user name would bring a large sign saying “Over here”. 
And it was better than scaring the locals by looking them up and down to see if they were Dopers. Don’t really want to try that in Central London.
